I have an ICOM model IC-2GXAT, i purchased it since 2003, but in the past few months there's a changes in volume level.. until now it sounds like a whisper even the volume is fully turn to a maximum level.. and it can't transmit in a far distance even if i'm using and aerial antenna.. Can you help me to fix this problem?

The best advice I can give is to purchase the Lithium Ion (Li-ion) version of this battery, cost is slightly more but if you search ebay under electronics and follow the link to radios, parts & accessories then follow the links to batteries, you could save a few pennies.

otherwise look up the Icom website to see if they still stock your units batteries, but I doubt it.

ebay for sure and save some money that way.

Rival doesn't have the model 8150 listed, but here's the model 8151 manual. Maybe it will be close enough to help.

This is a front end issue that has to be remedied by a radio tech or the factory. The front end is the receiver and it takes special tools and equipment to test and calibrate it correctly,, The only thing you can do is check the ICOM page to see where it can be serviced.

The closest I could find is the IC-2GXAT. If it's the same, or similar, you can download/print the manual here:

I had a very similar problem on a hand held scanner. In my case the mylar speaker cone had separated from the voice coil. I found an exact replacement for under $4 at Allied Electronics.

Programming the IC-F11:
I believe one must purchase software and a programming cable to program the frequencies of this radio.

I am a marine electronics technician with 28 years experience. I have also been a licensed amateur radio operator for the past 12 years. Based on my professional experience with both brands (Icom and Yaesu), I have to advise you to go with one of the Icom units. The Yaesu is a good radio, but Icom's customer support is far superior. I have had no problems dealing with their service department over the years, something I can't say about Yaesu.
