My tv is not receiving a signal from my Direct dish. I contacted Direct and we tried several things via phone. They believe the problem is with my tv not the dish or the receiver. My tv turns on and off fine. All I have come up on the screen is "no signal"when I turn my tv on. I have been gone on vacation and this is the way it was when I got home.It was working fine before I left. No one has changed anything since Direct hooked it up three years ago.

Hi,you might need to look around for cable loose some where that might have disconnected.May be by a rodent or so.Can be too sure..anything might go wrong some where ..

You can do a General troubleshooting..That is, unplugging, check the cables one by one, and insert all cables properly ..

I guess you will find a solution...

Good luck and let me know...

Hi,
I'm assuming here that you've already confirmed that the signal is good and not the issue. This is an indication of faulty I/O and Tuner circuitry in the main board. The problem is, this board is repairable only from your local LG service centers because the IC's and other parts are surface mounted and quite sensitive. I would advice you to replaced the entire main board if you are going to DIY or send it in if you can't do it yourself. Click this LINK to purchase the mainboard or obtain it from your local service centers.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

If you are getting a messag that says no signal. That means that your tv is on the wrong input. Try to chang the input on the Tv by pressing the input button on the remote or the Tv. Once you have changed the input wait to see if you have a picture. If you do not have a picture change to the next input till you get a picture. If you need you can get the manual on the link below.

I cannot get the VCR/DVD to record from my tv. I have a satellite dish. The input from the dish receiver to the tv is HDMI1. The DVD receiver hooks into the AV1 inputs. I can set the timer, but nothing...

I have no direct experience but you should note no recording will take place unless the signal format is suitable/compatible. HDMI is a digital signal and your VCR/DVD will probably require an analogue signal.

A tv processes the digital into analogue but sockets at the back of tv sets tend to be input only. A minority of tv sets have two scart sockets, the second one usually providing an output sound and video of what is playing on the tv at the time.

I believe it is possible to buy a box that will convert digital to analogue or vice-versa.

You're closed captioning is all jumbled up on Seattle's KIRO TV from my DISH network. The cc works fine on all other channels. Dish says it's a network problem. Any response?

The CC is provided to DISH (and all cable/satellite companies) by the network that creates the programming. Usually, live TV (like news, sports, etc) is the most jumbled because of the time it takes someone to transpose what is being spoken as it is being spoken. If this is a network that is available OTA (via antenna), verify that the issue is not happening when you are receiving the signal from somewhere other than DISH (if you cannot receive an OTA signal, try at a buddy's house that uses another cable provider). If the problem occurs via OTA or other providers, contact KIRO to have them improve their CC service. If it only happens when viewed with DISH, contact DISH, who will then resolve the issue with KIRO (usually a lag time in signal transmission from the provider).

Try calibrating the antenna to the nearest satellite. The DirecTV box has in the installation menu instructions on how to do this. You'll need some tools like a socket wrench to unlock and adjust the antenna. Put in the menu your global position or your city and select the transponder that gives better signal. If all satellites are out of signal, move the dish until you receive at least one.
To calibrate the dish from the ceiling or wherever it's installed, put the TV volume up until you hear the short "BOOP" sound from the dish location. When you get signal, the "BOOP" will turn to a continuous "beep" with a higher pitch when higher the signal you're receiving. After getting the best signal, switch transponders to see if there's another with better signal, after that, lock the antenna and try watching a channel.

Does Uniden sell Satellite Dishes? Several years ago people were able to purchase Satellite Dishes from Radio Shack. This enabled them to get non scrambled television stations from around the world. Does...

What you are referring to is a FTA receiver. These are generally considered to be illegal and people who install them are then charged 4500.00 by direct tv because of the assumption that their signal is being stolen. Uniden no longer sells them for this reason

Have Direct TV using a Sony Digital Satellite receiver model #SAT B2-2 /Sony Satellite dish purchased in 7/97. I get local channels thru Direct TV. Recently, local channels will show on the Direct TV guide...

Your dish is out of alignment. The local channel satellite doesn't have as strong of a signal, so a slight misalignment will cause problems.

It could also be an F-connector needs to be replaced at the dish or multiswitch (if you have one). Sometimes moisture builds up inside the connector and corrodes the copper stinger inside.

If you go into your satellite signal strength menu and find the local channel satellite, you're sure to see either a weak signal or an intermittent one.

One more thing, if a tree has grown in the line of sight between the dish and the satellite, this will cause signal problems too. In this case, you either have to trim the tree or move the dish.

Hope this helps!

P.S.
The customer service reps at DirecTV usually idiots reading from a script with no real field experience.

Hi guys, I bought new HD TV I have Dish receiver,# VIP211hd. Tv is not seeing HDMI signal. Tried three diff cables into all 4 ports on tv. DVD player works in any of them .Dish tells me output is port...

This is a really difficult problem to answer correctly on the first try but here we go. Some tvs will not recognize the introduction of a new component without unplugging the tv for about 30 seconds with the component connected and powering the tv back on. The issue I believe Dish was trying to convey was to make sure the port you plug the receiver into is turned on in the tv menu. Since the dvd works in any of them this seems to be the case. I f you have further difficulties you should contact the tv manufacturer for assistance as they are more familiar with teaching the tv to communicate with the receiver than Dish personell will be in most cases.

Connection to Dish service

Your t.v is having only RFin , and if you connecting dish receiver , normaly their are two o/p for receiver one is RF and two is for audio out and video out. if your connecting direct RFout to t.v RF in then you have to tune the t.v in all bands. if your receiver do not having RFout facility, then you have to connect AV out to converter and then RFin of t.v. if you having a vcr, then connect AVout of dish receiver to vcr AVin and then vcr RFout to t.v again tune the t.v and pwer on the vcr.

Direct TV

Signal issue generally refers to the satellite dish being out of alignment. If you have a single LNB, (one knob on your dish) you can reaim it with two people, on inside telling you your strength and you aiming the dish. If you have more LNB's, the easiest way is with a satellite signal meter, which can be expensive.
