The train set didn't come with directions and we can't get it to work. We have put batteries in it and now we are stuck! Can you help?

when u take out the battery hold down the end button for 30seconds then put battery back in and start it up.

If it's going backwards, and assuming you didn't take it apart and put it together wrong, then the arms aren't going in the right direction. Looking down from the top, my unit should be moving clockwise if it's set up correctly. In any case, switch it so the water pushes the arms in the other direction. the transmission is pretty straightforward - if it's going in the wrong direction then the arms are spinning in the wrong direction.

I can direct you to a service manual for your machine but it may be something that you need a trained Elna service technician to deal with.

I am more familiar with the SU air electronic where you just hold the outside of the flywheel and turn the inside knob to disengage and rengage the clutch - didn't realise the Carina had a button flywheel release until I looked in the service manual.

Anyway, you could try dismantling the flywheel following the exploded diagram in the service manual if you are technically minded.

Or just take it to a reputable serviceman, I'm a big fan to supporting these guys as their knowledge is invaluable.

Just put new rubber in my car remote buttons did not work there was a bit of rober stuck in there near the old button

Aha! I found this on another forum and it worked for me!

I had some luck using a trick I read on the yahoo geotrax group.
Make sure you have good batteries and hold the controller in the forward movement position. Then run the train forward repeatedly on a surface with friction (I used my pant leg). I got two old trains to work again, and I'm hoping to fix one more.

The theory is that this works because it uses a magnetic coupling instead of a direct drive.

It only took me one super gentle swipe across my leg! Better than smacking/bashing them because that can knock wires loose and stuff. Hope this helps everyone! :D

I had the same problem with two of our three engines. I read somewhere that you can get them running by hitting the side of the engine against a hard surface. I can't believe it... IT WORKED! I guess the motor gets **** and hitting it will get it going. All three engines are working now.

The batteries are located in the enginge (locomotive). They take 6 D sized batteries. At the very back there is a panel that you need to slide off to get to the battery compartment. Somtimes it may take a little manipulation to get the panel open. As for directions, Iam in the same boat with that problem. Hope this helps.
