And with rust around the seal it will leak even more. Is there no guaranty on the camera anymore? I would contact Pentax, to ask them what to do. Special when I needed the camera in a moist (under water) environment.
It is possible that there was a leak within and a possible case of salt water that has gone into the camera. You need to remove to confirm and if so this must be referred with the battery removed immediately and the unit left to dry.
The problem is not solved. I've resigned myself to the fact that buying this camera was a huge mistake. Your response to my inquire for repair only suggested other web sites to visit. No clear solution. After researching other consumers who purchased this camera, its clearly a defective product that Pentax is unwilling to deal with. Consumers who still have a warranty for the camera were told by Pentax that there is nothing that can be done. I for one will not be purchasing any more Pentax cameras in the future.

Same issue here although there has not yet been any effect on function. I do quite a bit of underwater photography and the images have remained very good without the screws.
You should get the original Pentax cable- the Pentax I-USB7 USB Cable for the Optio WPi, WP & S55 Digital Cameras. It's compatible with the 450 as well.
I had the 33WR last year, and opened it up. My subjective opinion is that it cannot withstand the pressure underwater. Someone tried it and water got in.
