My JVC camcorder is approx 4 yrs old. Received it new as a gift---never used before. Recently set up camera for filming-----was not able to view any images in viewfinder or on LCD screen. All I seem to get is a grey---blank screen with some shadows across horizontally.
If you get a blank LCD, dimly lightened by a whitish back light, then the LCD display eis either faulty, badly connected, or the ribbon connector to LCD is defective.
The camera must be taken apart, ribbon cable tested, and eventually replaced and adjusted.
If all contacts on ribbon cable return continuity (cable is fine), then LCD is faulty, and must be replaced.
Althought the job is not too difficult, an user without experience may damage the camera in attempting this repair.
My first suggestion is always taking the unit to a camera shop.

Thank you for your assistance. I will seek a camera shop in my area. I regret that I didn't try this earlier while it was under warranty. I hope it will not be an expensive repair.
