My computer starts at the blue start up screen and it takes it about 10 minutes to load the log in screen. It wasn't doing this at first. I have done multiple system restores, but it hasn't helped. Also, I can't get itunes to load at all. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it but it will not load at all.

When i try to reboot my dell inspiron 1501 to factory settings after i press F8 and click "repair computer" it just starts normally and goes to my desktop.

Hi,

To restore your Dell computer to it's original factory settings, here's how:

To use PC Restore:
  1. Turn on the computer.

During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top of the screen.

  1. Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press .

If you do not press in time, let the computer finish starting, and then restart the computer again.
notice.gif NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.

  1. On the next screen that appears, click Restore.

  2. On the next screen, click Confirm.

The restore process takes approximately 6-10 minutes to complete.

  1. When prompted, click Finish to reboot the computer.

note.gif NOTE: Do not manually shut down the computer. Click Finish and let the computer completely reboot.
  1. When prompted, click Yes.

The computer restarts. Because the computer is restored to its original operating state, the screens that appear, such as the End User License Agreement, are the same ones that appeared the first time the computer was turned on.

  1. Click Next.

The System Restore screen appears and the computer restarts.
After the computer restarts, click OK.

Thanks and have a good one.

Gateway Gt5412 virus has taken over my administrator rights what can i do

The first thing you need to do is restart your computer and directly after the BIOS screen loads press F8 until you get a Windows menu. In this menu, navigate to "Safe Mode with Networking" and press Enter. It'll take a couple of minutes to load the drivers and present you with the log in screen. Go ahead and log in, and open a web browser and download Malware Bytes from: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol;1.
After it is done downloading, install it and let it update the virus definitions. When this is done, run the program (You don't need to start the trial) and run a full scan. Any infected files will be listed and the program will let you remove them. After the files are removed, Malware Bytes will probably ask you to restart your computer. Go ahead and do so and let it boot normally. Log in and see if the virus is gone. If not, reboot into safe mode, start up Malware Bytes again and do another scan.
I hope this helps!
