I have a nikon d40. I lent my camera to someone else yesterday. when I turn it on to view photos and what looks like a contrast graph pops up and I can't remove it. It is overlaying the photo.

When you are viewing images with the histogram showing, press the down arrow on the command dial and the screens will scroll through various overlays until you reach the viewing screen you want.
Bring up the photo on the camera. Press up or down until you get the histogram (yellow graph). When you get this, press up once, and look at the bottom of the screen.
