Hi, I recently just installed this stereo into my caravan and I was having the same problem. After hours of googling I found a solution that may help. When you connect the yellow and black wires to your other wires that go to your battery or power source I didn't get anything until I connected the yellow and red wire together from the stereo and connected that to the yellow wire into battery/power source. Some feature to illuminate the stereo I. E. Radio, CD, time display etc needs that red wire and will also light all the button up and you can use the stereo fully.

I hope this helps someone and saves them a lot of time. I was new to this and knew nothing about installing car stereos, I assume this is probably the case for all stereos but for newbies like myself I hope this helps. Good luck.

How to set up the clock at JVC KD-G396

Hello there,
Here's a link to the user manual for your KD-G396

http://factron.co.za/docs/400/KD-G245-396%20Installation%20Manual.pdf

The section on setting up the clock is surprisingly short... it's found on Page 6 -
------------------------------------
Basic settings
• See also “General settings — PSM” on pages 11 and
12.
1 Hold on the SEL button
2 These options are changed using a combination of the UP, DOWN, PREVIOUS & NEXT buttons along with the Volume Knob. (This is shown with a picture, I'm just trying to translate and interpret what I think they're trying to communicate)
1 Canceling the display demonstrations
Select “DEMO,” then “DEMO OFF.”
2 Setting the clock
Select “CLOCK H” (hour), then adjust the hour.
Select “CLOCK M” (minute), then adjust the
minute.
3 Finish the procedure - by pressing the SEL button.

Open/close doesn't work

When you press Eject CD button, do you see CD display blinks as if its preparing to be ejected? If its true then eject switch is working and cd mechanism is stuck, requires service. Also check loading belt in mechanism.
And if unit shows no response on pressing CD Eject button then switch is bad, replace it.

Cd is stuck

Disc Eject Prohibit: This feature keeps the disc from ejecting even if the eject button is pushed. The disc eject prohibit feature is engaged/disengaged by pressing the CD and Eject buttons simultaneously for more than 2 seconds.

JVC KD-G110 car music system is taking CD and not getting played am not able to function any ...?

Hi. your radio has 2 power wires. A red one and a yellow one (with most decks) It sounds like your radio is getting only constant power but no "key on" power. Check your radio with the key on you should have power on both the red and yellow wires. If you are missing power on one of the wires theres your problem. If you have power on both wires then there is something internally wrong with your radio...

Kd-s5050 wont stay ON

This is Common on Vauxhalls...

The Accessory position on the Ignition fails!

so the Ignition connection is temperamental... The unit has power and so certain functions using the constant 12v.

I normally connect the ignition to a different source.

Or a quick fix is to connect both red & yellow to the constant12v
