It sounds like there is something stuck in the water pump you will need to lay the water outlet on the floor into a shallow vessal to empty it then that the back off locate the water pump and see if you can rotate the cooling propeller if not take the motor housing apart to remove the debris that's preventing it from turning if the motor has not burnt out eric

SOURCE: Maytag Atlantis shut down during rinse cycle.

Contacted a local repair shop. They told me that if I got it spinning again, the motor was most likely ok. It is protected by a thermal switch that turns it off when it begins to overheat. The smell was to be expected as it was overheating; the difficutly restarting was because it hadn't cooled off enough yet. We have now used it a few times for small loads. Still getting a smell, but the wash cycle is completing ok.

SOURCE: maytag atlantis will agitate won't spin

I had the same problem with my Atlantis a couple of months ago. It turned out to be the bearing for the tub drive pulley. When you look under the washer there are three pulleys. The one for the motor is ont he left, the drain pulley on the right and the big one in the middle for the tub. What I found is that when the bearing went bad, the tub would fill and turn for washing, but it would not turn at all for spinning. I could turn the pulley by hand but the tub refused to budge. I removed the main pulley and could see that the bearing had exploded. You can't buy just the bearing but the whole pulley kit is like $35 so I got off easy. I put the machine back together (which is tricky) but it works fine now. The pulley kit comes with complete instructions but it's really straightforward. The tricky part is that you have to pull down on the end of the drive shaft in order to get the retainer ring onto the pulley. That can be difficult if you don't have a lot of room to work or have a partner to assist. You can replace the whole thing or just the bearing and save the pulley for a rainy day if you want. I opted for the whole replacement. But I saved the old. cause ya neva know!

Maytag Atlantis Washer - no cold water

Check the solenoid valves. If it's connected to hard water, the minerals build up inside and won't let the internal plunger move.

I have a 6 yr old maytag top loader washer that does not wash or spin. It filled up with water and then stopped working. The power light is on but it does nothing . Any suggestions?

There is plainly no drive to the drum, it could be a broken drive belt or a dead motor.

Is there any humming from the motor?

If all is silent it could be the motor has died. If there is any sign that the motor is turning, then the drive belt could be gone.

Remove the back and look at the drive.

Alternatively the driver circuit board may need replacement.

Mav7600aww no hot water

It sounds like the hot water supply is interrupted. This can be due to at least three potential items which are easily checked.

First, make sure the hot water supply is turned on at the nearest faucet. Second, make sure that any in line filter in the hose supplying the hot water isnt clogged. Finally make sure that the hose itself isnt clogged as hot water can carry alot of chemicals in solution but as the water cools the chemicals come out of solution as solids which will gum things up.
