Disconnect the USB (which is the power source) and install the driver. Then reconnect the USB. The driver should be detected automatically. Go into "Device Manager" to check.
In most scanners, there is a lock (usually on the bottom side) to protect the internal parts while transport.
Detach the USB and power, turn the scanner upside down and unlock the button.
Attach the cables and retry.
mbrindle is great!!!! Many thanks - I was just about to take it back as I thought the scanner was defective. Would never have thought i had to do that. Thanks!!!
Sounds like the scan head is locked. This is usually done so you can transport the scanner without bouncing the scan head out of alignment. Look under the scanner and you will see it. Make sure it's in the UNLOCKED position. You may need to power the unit off/on to reset it or restart your computer to get a fresh attempt at the scanner.
1. at the back of the scanner there is lock try to release that one (slide to unlock) 2. uninsall the system and re-install again 3. check the usb port of your computer
Vista is the laughing stock of IT pros everywhere. Vista is truly the bastard child of Bill Gates. Go on Canon web site and look for updated drivers to run on Vista or downgrade back to XP, which is more user friendly with peripherals.
