My Karcher k4 pressure washer only works if I turn it on while pressing the trigger on the gun?

This is normal. The high-pressure car washer has certain dangers. If the water column of his spray gun is aimed at people, it will stab people. If the switch is turned on and spray water, then the pressure of the spray gun head will be sprayed around, which will accidentally hurt people. people, so it's designed this way.

K3.86 The motor will not start. It starts for a few secons than stops. Does not products any power Thanks Jim

Dear Sir,
Normally when one closes the gun the machine stops. So you may have a blockage problem that is shutting the machine off. You may try to diusconnect the gun so that you run the machine without load. But..ALWAYS...with water being fed. Never run a power washer without water being fed. Without gun and water fed normally....your machine should continue working. If so you can attach the gun without the lance. If it works, you have a blocked nozzle in the lance. If so try with a very thin needle to clear the nozzel. Do not make the nozzel's hole bigger with cleaning, because then you lose power. Now these machines stop automatically by means of a control valve (Spill Valve). The spill valve when the gun is closed, pressure is created and the spill valve in turn will move to close the electricity by means of a micro switch. Spill valves give a lot of trouble if machine is left with soap in it, or if the machine is stored with pressure in it. NEVER STORE A POWER WASHER WITH PRESSURE IN IT.....always when finished working disconnect electricity, disconnect water and finally press the gun to release pressure. Well as I already said start by putting on machine without load. Then add the gun without lance so that you see that when you close the gun the machine stops....and when you open the gun machine starts again. All this without lance attached. Also in cases like these the Spill Valve sometimes gets jammed in the cutting off electricity position. Spill valves only need to be serviced with good silicon grease....but in doubt change the spill valve. If you open the machine the spill valve is located where you see 2 wires coming out. You should have special tools to remove and service/change the spill valve. Well hope you have a small idea from where to start.

Water goes thru. have hydrulic oil to level. gun semas to stick on. NOT GETTING ANY PRESSURE AT NOSSEL.

Hydraulic oil?
Is this a pressure washer?
Pump should be half full of SAE20 or SAE30 non-detergent motor oil.
Engine should have 10W30 motor oil.

If you have a pressure washer ... and not water is coming out end of gun:
Take all hoses off machine.
Look at incoming water hose connection.
The should be a filter washer.
Clean or replace filter washer.
Hook up water and turn on water.
Water should come out other side of pump.
Turn on power washer and see if water coming out of pump is pressurized.
Now hook up pressure hose without gun.
Turn on pressure washer and see if water comes out of hose and is pressurized.
Finally, the gun may be bad.
We used to replace guns when they went bad.

Hello there. My Karcher pressure washer motor constantly runs with no pressure coming out of trigger gun.I have tried another gun with the same result. The motor should stop/start when you press gun.The...

The valve that admits more water to be compressed is stuck. It is likely the O-Rings on it need replacing. No water to the pump, no pressure!

The motor will stop when pressure is up to the designed pressure.

Do not know how to work power washer

Dear Carrie688,
I cannot for sure understand your problem. You say, you do not know how to WORK power washer. Does WORK mean FIX...or USE???? I will assume that you wish to know how to use it.
First without water connected and without gun connected...switch on the machine. If it turns, then this means the electric motor is OK. Now connect the hose and gun. Connect water supply. Now always start the machine with gun open. This will help to remove air from system. When pressure builts up, close gun, and machine must stop instantly. If machine does not stop, open the gun again and switch off the machine. If the machine continues working when the the gun is closed, this will result in a lot of damage. I do not know what model you have, because also there are old models that when gun is closed, the machine keeps running. I assume your model is recent. So the machine will stop when gun is closed. Now when finished, switch off machine and electricity. And most important release pressure from gun. Do not store machine with pressure still in it. This will damage machine and it is not safe.
Now if you have detergent, this can only work on low pressure. There are bigger machines that detergent works on high pressure. But the normal system is that detergent works on low pressure. Also before storing, pass fresh water to remove all detergent from pump of machine. Never store a machine with detergent in its system.
Regards,
Fulltech.
