Remove the cover containing the cord rewind mechanism, untie the cord's knot in the center of the mechanism and remove the old cord by unwinding it from the pulley. Thread the new cord through the hole it goes through on the outside and wind the recoil mechanism so that it has sufficient spring tension to rewind the new cord. Use something appropriate to immobilize the pulley while you thread the cord through the center and tie the knot. Slowly allow the pulley to retract and wind the new cord onto it. Replace the cover. As an aside, sometimes when the cord breaks and the pulley snaps back quickly, the rewind spring can break.

My homelite (the shrub sharper 21) pull string broke. I want to replace string. How do I replace new string.

Replacing a pull string on anything is a tricky operation, taking it apart is easy, but getting the springs back in place and everything wound up is not easy. I would suggest finding a local hardware store or equipment rental location, and find somebody to do it for you. I made the mistake of attempting to do it, and 3 hours later and a lifetimes worth of frustration later I got it. Save yourself the trouble and pass it off to somebody else.

The pull string will not pull out to start the

Remove the starter mechanism from the saw and try to turn the flywheel--it should turn freely except when the piston is rising against compression. If ok, pull the starter cord and watch for twisted cord or a damaged/split spool. Try to turn the spool CW by hand to see if it is bound up by something. Was the starter cord just replaced? If so, maybe the return spring was over-wound and can't be turned further. Hope this helps!

Recoil not recoilling good

hey fark
This is easy. Take off rope housing (four screws). Once off, pull the string out 3/4 of the way. Once out, tie string around spindle one extra time ( real easy just wrap string once more around winding spool ). This oughta make string snap back after pulls.

Need diagram for fuel lines on craftsman chainsaw

There is two sizes of line. I see the large one goes to the large port on the primer button and then to the fuel tank. The small one goes from the primer button to the carb. The problem is there are two hose connections on the carb. I believe one is a vent, but I am not sure what one it is. I have a 36cc 2-cycle model 358.352161
