What is the specific problem? Is no water being collected by the dehumidifier or do you have another issue?
Make sure that the dehumidifier is in a room in the operating temperature range (at or above 44 degrees F). Make sure that the room door and windows are closed and that the room is not larger than 2200 square feet. Make sure that the collection bucket not full and is properly seated in the dehumidifier. Check and clean the air filter on the dehumidifier. (Vacuum the filter or rinse under running water three times. Then wait until dry to replace it in the dehumidifier.) Look at the coils of the dehumidifier. If you have ice on the coils, defrost the unit (turn off, unplug and wait for it to melt). If the ice reforms quickly, you may have a leak in the coolant system. Then the unit needs repair.
Next make sure that you have good air flow around the dehumidifier and that the desired humidity set point is lower than the humidity of the room.
I need to be clear on what you said. you "can't find where to empty the water." Meaning you have removed the water collection bucket and don't know where to empty it? If that's the case, emptying it in a bath tub, is the easiest way.
However, if you meant, you don't know how to remove the water collection tank. It's on the front of the unit, below the air intake louvers. It simply slides/pulls out of the dehumidifier, when you pull on the indented handles on both sides of the bucket.
To assist you further, I have included a link to the Owner's Manual to a Danby model similar to yours. You can download and print it for future reference.
If you look above the tubing, there's a little gray nub/cone thing. Slide the tube onto that and it should fix the problem. If you're trying to use the pump instead of the collection bucket, there are good directions in the manual.
Hi, There are many reasons for a dehumidifier to not work or collect water. Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier.
Check the fitting where you connect the drain hose to. It may have a plastic seal that must be cleared out in order to use the hose drain. The plastic seal can be easily punched out.
