HTC HD Desire. Just today I cannot text message anyone. The text message centre number is in there and correct as is the Vodafone network? Help Have done a manual roam and a soft reset. I can make and receive calls and receive texts. I just cannot send them.

Message centre is a number that the phone uses to send and receive SMS (text) messages and similar.
Call your network provider (eg: Vodafone) and ask them what your message centre number is.

I had the same problem and came to this site for help but the solutions didn't solve the problem of "cannot send text message" on htc touch hd. All service numbers correct. Went to START/SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS/ADVANCED NETWORK/SMS SERVICE then changed from "gprs" to "gprs preferred". Double checked and had reverted to "GSM" but sms now works - finally!!! Hope this helps.

The message centre number I believe is attached to the sim card. Try putting your sim into another handset and access message number on that and edit. When you move it back to HTC it should work. Hope that helps?

I had a similar problem found solution today:

first you need to obtain your messaging service centre number from your networ providor, like Vodafone-TMobilen-Orange..etc

Then follow this process:
Press for menu, press messaging, press options, press settings, press options again, press open, select message centre then press options, press open, press options again select open go to message centre number and insert the number you have obtained at the beginning your sms sending will be activated...
