The first FixYa,cost$12 dollars, help advisor suggested a fuse that coild not be located so I went ahead & bought the second advisor, which cost me $30 dollars, & was supposed to connect me to a real live person to call me back within 2hours which never happened. so the next morning I called a local Sears store in Great Falls, Montana and they a # 1(800)366-7278 for parts which I called & they have the part# 316 455 420 coming that will fix the kitchen range. Please put the $42 dollars Back in my account.

It could be two things. THe first are the elements. It is highly unlikely both resistive elements have failed simultaneously but it is possible. You can check these by first removing the elements and then use an ohm meter to measure the resistance across the terminals. If they are open then that is your problem. The second could be your oven controller. There are two contactors/relays that control the high voltage high current supply to your elements. These contactors are controller by a low voltage source. Your broil element uses a separate contactor than your bake element. Either both contactors have gone bad or the oven controller which sends the signal to close the contactor has gone bad. You can check the contactors by desoldering them from the PCB and applying the proper coil voltage. You should hear or feel the contact close. If you uncomfortable with these steps by all means call a repair man. If you do decide to try and take a peek make sure you unplug the stove first. Good luck!

Well i don't know if you are referring to me or not but I believe I gave you proper advice. The part you are referring to that you ordered is what I said the problem is. The timer IS the oven controller. Look at your part and read the following.

See the two black devices near the middle, those are the contactors that I told you were bad. I did give you correct advice so I think I should be awarded the solution. And to clarify I never received money for your CORRECT solution.

The top of the back piece over the controls etc. should hinge up revealing fuses.
Make sure teh fuses are there, and that they aren't blown.

Maytag double electric oven. we turn on to bake and would switch to broil then will turn off.

Assuming this is on a gas range, the bake burner ( under the oven floor) and the broil burner ( at the top of the oven) have electric igniters . When switching from bake to broil the broiler goes off due to a defective or broken broil igniter. cheap part to replace ( +-$40.00)

My spectra stove's oven is not working, the burners work, the broil works, but my oven will not heat up

Hi.

The JBP78 is electric, since you are talking about a gas oven I think the model is incorrect.

Talking about a gas ovens:

If the oven is not heating up and both broiling and baking burners are working and coming up then check the temperature probe sensor and the control board.

If one of the two burners is not firing check the ignitor, the burner and coil, the burner and flame sensor. The most common problems come from defective ignitor.

Regards.

My oven wouldn't bake or bbroil but all burners

First suspect is the thermal fuse that feeds the bake and broil elements. It is located on the back oven wall or sometimes the top.

My broiler works - but the oven does not - GE Dual Fuel range

Thanks for providing the full model number, which allows us to look up part numbers and see exploded views of your product.
Most likely the bake ignitor is bad (even if it still glows, it may not draw enough amperage to allow the gas safety valve to open). One way you can test this on your model is to swap out the broil ignitor for the bake ignitor, as they are the same part number on your model. (part number WB13T10045) The broiler is normally used much less than the oven, so the part does not fail very often on the broiler. You will have to take the cover off the floor of the oven, then the flame spreader, to reach the burner area. The ignitor is the rectangular part at the back, on the side of the burner. (only two wires to deal with) (By the way, for future reference, your model number ends is SS, as in stainless steel, not a 55)
