I have an older model Flair unit. I took it apart to try and give it a good cleaning and noticed that there was a small glass bulb-looking part with one of the thin wires was broken. Of course the other wire broke the moment I touched it. Can someone tell me what this part is, as it does not look like any fuse that I've seen. It looks like a tiny light bulb with both wires entering from just one side. I have not at this point even tried turning it on since I don't know what I'm dealing with.

It's attached to the pulse radio-wave ionizer. It comes on when the unit is on to show the radio wave is working. It's not needed and I've never seen a replacement but Radio Shack could probably help you replace it if you wanted.

Your ozone generator may have gone bad. It's the small black rectangular looking apparatus located near the bottom of the unit. It usually has a zip tie holding it to the circuit board. You will have to take the Flair out of it's case to see it. Make sure it's unplugged and remove the bolt from the bottom of the unit. You can then slide the framework out of the casing. It's also possible that it's time to replace your Ceramic Ozone Plates. They have a life expectancy of 2 to 4 years. The Flair has two of them that slide into slots in the rear of the unit. You can see them when you remove the washable filter. All items can be purchased on Ebay. DM

Open the back and change the Ozone plate. then slide out the ION plate and clean it with denatured alcohol. If no light inside, you may have to replace the bulb and / or starter. Hope that helps.

My Flair Ari purifier makes much more noise

Sounds like Motor or bearing is failing.
You could order parts but you will find it less expensive to replace unit. Than trying to repair.

Please rate. Hope this helped. If i can help you further let me know. Good luck!

Only one plate inside, it's glass edges are broken or deteriorate

I haven't seen an older Flair that I know of. There will be as many slots for plates as are required. The filter is definitely washable. Use an enzyme cleaner and rinse with hot water. The fan motor should be oiled every month or two. It should cost less than $100 to get it running in top shape.

Air Purification Unit Model ALP-615

Moist air reduces the efficiency of ozone production for this unit. I am not sure what the water thing is about.

Did you try cleaning the glass plate or ceramic plate ozone producing unit with soap free ammonia? Also did you try using a pencil eraser on the contact points on the glass plate? I think the ammonia cleaning and contact points on the glass plate should be your first option. Check your maintenance on the units manual.
