Hello delphil,
goto www.clickbank.com,
find sales and give them order number TD88&DPD and explain situation.
SOURCE: Upgrading to AVG 8 from the 7.5 purchased version
Hi Collin there are several likely possibilities:
1) AVG keeps an extensive black lists of compromised
serial numbers.
These are numbers that have been published on the internet,
or numbers that have been associated with too many different
IP addresses during the download of automatic updates.
If a black listed serial number is detected during the daily
update sequence, Grisoft will send you a Trojan update
which disables your product.
2) A black listed serial number from the original installation,
may also propagate to any updates installed over the
top of it.
3) Also, AVG has become the target of many viruses, root kits
and Trojans that have found a way to hack it, remove it and
even prevent it from being re-installed, including many
"beagle" varieties.
4) AVG will not detect nor identify these viruses, even if you
manually find and scan the file.
AVG will however identify many false positives, as well as
most key generators designed to crack it (AVG).
5) The first thing you can do is contact AVG and complain
loudly in Czech or English. Their head office (Grisoft)
is in Brno in the Czech Republic.
6) Scan your machine with another product (!!!), including:
Rootkit Revealer (Free from Winternals/Mark Russinowich)
Black light (Trial ware from F-Secure)
Kaspersky
McAfee
Norton
etc.
I have had my AVG installation hacked by malware at least
a dozen times in the last year, so I no longer trust it. I still
use it, but I use a multitude of other products ad well.
Use only well known and reputable (brand name) products,
beware of hundreds of ROGUE scanners out there that are
themselves viruses and try to milk you for money.
7) Keep in mind that NO anti-malware product detects
everything, not even close, so you are fighting a loosing
battle.
8) Once you are reasonably confident that your machine is
clean, by using other products, totally remove AVG and
re-install it.
Isn't it ironic that you have to clean your machine BEFORE
you can install the ANTIVIRUS ?!!!
9) If you can't get your legit serial to work, do what all honest
angry customers do.
Go to a crack site, get yourself a bogus serial or a key
generator (check it for viruses with another product, not
AVG), Install AVG plus the current updates, before number
gets black-listed, and then DISABLE the automatic updates
in AVG as well as the Windows Scheduler Service.
BTW. Keep your key generator on a CD, because AVG
may detect it as a virus, and try to destroy it.
Martin
PS
If your software is legit, but the serial does NOT work, then:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
www.mscracks.com used to be the best site for serials,
but their domain name expired about a week ago, so I don't
know what gives.
crackspider is another one.
also try: Pirate Bay
Always disable scripts in your Firefox, before
visiting these sites, some may try to hack your
computer.
