I have an LG dehumidifier, model # LHD65EBL. I had the fan motor go out on it a while back. Everywhere I looked, a new motor was at least $55, and some places wanted $95 for it! The LG site has it for $71.00. A few days ago I went to the SEARS PARTS DIRECT website and put in the part # off the side of the motor. They have the exact motor for $34.95, and the fan blades for only $6.00! After all the complaints I saw online, I wanted to make sure I shared this info to help other people. PLEASE let people know this. AT this price, it IS cheaper to fix it than replace the whole machine. Mine is now purring away and working like new. Thanks.

Thanks, cutter1. That's good information. And certainly, the price is right on the fan motor. For those who are mechanically inclined, and can do it themselves, it's really a bargain.

MY DEHUMIDIFIER COMPRESSOR SOUNDS LIKE IT IS RUNNIN BUT, THE FAN WHEN ENERGISED IS TIGHT & WILL NOT RUN. WHEN NOT ENERGISED THE FAN SPINS FREELY. SHOULD i REPLACE THE FAN MOTOR???

Definitely sounds like the thing to do. However, before you do that, try lubricating the fan motor shaft with some light oil (like sewing machine oil). That may free it up.

It is heating up the place and its very loud.

Hi,

With the unit unplugged, open the cover and check the alignment of the fan. If the fan is stuck or rubbing against the fan cowling, adjust the fan motor's mounting hardware so that the fan turns freely.

Good luck.

The fan inside is having a hard time rotating...starting to smell. what gives?

If the fan motor is quite hot to the touch when it is running and the smell is like something burning and the fan blade isn't rubbing on the housing then the fan motor bearing are most likely worn out. If that is the case then the fan motor is bad and needs to be replaced.
