According to this website, How to Melt Chocolate in Crock Pot LEAFtv, the best way to get a gentle, even melt is to start it for 3-4 hours with the crock pot on, but then turn it off for 2 hours (with the lid on).

You can plan it out so that your transport time is part of the second 2-hour step with the heat off.

If it's cold where you are, I would transport the crockpot wrapped in towels, and inside a cardboard box. That will help keep the heat in, keep moisture out, and stabilize it in the car.

SOURCE: If I double a crock

Somehow this problem ended up under Vacuums!

However- I will pass along what my wife says: "Almost 2 times as long"

Same with Turkey in the oven-- She takes the weight, and multiply's the pounds by 20 minutes on the Turkey-- Thus twice as much weight takes twice as long..

I hope this helps-

If not-- try 'Kitchen' or something closer-- or try going on line?-- maybe compare 2 different sized crock pot recipe's of the same or similar meat?

Although Rival does sell replacement parts, I could not find any listed for the model you have.

Perhaps you might like to look at their replacement parts webpage:

They also have a toll-free number, 1 (800) 323-9519.

Good luck from Detroit, MI.

I am looking for the recipe for the chocolate fountain. What is the ratio of chocolate chips to oil?

You can buy special chocolate fountain chocolate to use, or you can just use standard milk / dark chocolate chips and add 1/2 a cup of good vegetable or coconut oil for every pound (16 Oz) of chocolate.

There are many different variations on the recipe and you can Google CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN RECIPE to get an idea of the many different options which include adding cream or liqueur.

Basically you just want to melt your chocolate on the stove in a double boiler if possible.
If you use a microwave, then carefully heat only on low power and stir after every minute.

Pour the melted chocolate into the fountain base and turn on the fountain for a few minutes. Then shut it off for a minute to allow it to vent any air and restart.

You can always add a little more oil to the recipe if the chocolate does not flow properly.

Good luck and enjoy.

INstructions for rival chocolate fountain

you need about 2/3 cup of oil to 1 bag of chocolate chips (i think we use about 3 bags). In a bowl with the oil and chocoloate chips, melt them in the microwave about a minute at a time until its all liquid DO NOT over cook the chocolate chips in the microwave, they will scorch. Once melted pour into the fountain and turn it on. I would do one bag at a time. Hope this helps!

Need recipe for mixing chocolate & oil for fountain

Buy your fountain chocolate from www.wesellchocolate.com. It is an imported Belgian Chocolate that comes in 2.5lb tubs that you put in the microwave and don't need to add any oil. Very easy and delicious!

Rival crock pot

Yes, it's not unusual for the outside to be too hot to touch. A slow cooker won't get as hot as a bare burner on the stove, but it still gets hot enough to cook meat. The outside has a bit of insulation, but it still may get hot enough to cause pain, melt a bread bag, etc. Be sure and place it where no one will accidentally touch it.
