Upgrade IBM Xseries 346 Server

Hi,

I need few information about how we can add more SCSI drives to an already running RAID array. I have 4 disk now, which is configured for RAID 5 and now i need to add 2 more to the same. Can you help me out?

    i have a 3 disk w/c on raid 5 with windows 2003, we want to add the disk space on our drive c and drive d, what then we do?

You can add drives to the array through the scsi management software, then you can extend any dynamic partitions that don't have the OS on them. I don't think you can extend the array if it contains the OS. You may need to use the disk management utility in windows to make the partitions 'dynamic disks' before you can extend the data partitions

which material have you ? : CD
which server ? xseries xxx model type ?
If this is the unique SCSI adapter in your system
or the unique seen, you must:

0) download
90p2772.iso 505,085,952 IBM ServeRAID support CD v6.10
or use what you have.

1) Boot from cd (linux) to configure RAID , before install W2K Server

2) run 23k4684.exe (previous site) in another pc and make a floppy

3) boot from W2k CD and press F6 when proposed

4) insert floppy previously made

5) when OS is installed, or from CD or using 23k4687.exe,
install "IBM ServeRAID Manager", to see activity.

How to repair server 2003 in IBM 226 server

first you need to prepare the scsi drives ie host raid adapter scsi drivers are server raid cotroller 6 scsi drivers by using the serevr raid support cd dikettitools proper os drivers to floppy and boot with widows cd at the time starting boot press f6 to specify the scsi drivers then all scsi hdd will detect for installatio.

While running the windows 2003 setup (winnt.exe), it will ask for SASI driver, you have to add the scsi driver... then windows 2003 os will detect the HDD.. then it will install..

Xseries 346 wont boot

You don't say whether or not your os is on the RAID 5 partition. Assuming that it is (for performance reasons, this is not recommended) then you should check to see if you have the option of configuring a separate raid configuration on your raid card (e.g. do you have a card with more then one RAID channel?) If this is so, I would create a separate RAID 1 array and install the OS just on that. Then you can mount the RAID 5 array with your data intact. Once you're up and running, you can remove the old OS partition, as it's no longer needed.
