I have a Kenmore freezer that was running fine since we bought it. My little girl and her cousins were getting ice out of the thing and leaving the door open longer than necessary. It started alarming, though it was not the "door open" alarm. It started showing the "CE" alarm telling me that I needed to call a service tech. Being the fixit man that I am, I replaced both of the control boards at a cost of about $170.00. Now it's in alarm and not coming out. Is there a manual "Zero" for the temp or something? Can I reset it?

I have the Kenmore 253.26072101 with the same problem and began with the door opening and alarm went off immediately. I've had two service men out and each told me I could probably fix it myself. But I've replaced the front controler panel, the highvoltage controller, and I'm waiting on a backordered thermistor. No one seems to have the thermistor in stock. I'm wondering if this is a widespread bug due to a defective thermistor. If it is not the thermistor, I don't know what it could be. The alarm will not clear. The temp is much colder in the box than temp readout indicates. I'm afraid it is never shutting off. I turn it off during the day for a few minutes several times a day to give the compressor a rest. Thermistor should ship around Oct 22th from Sears. Any other suggestions? (Besides calling the Sears Repairman)
We have had the same exact problem. We called the service technician and we were told we had to replace the door. The total to repair our Sears Kenmore 1.50 year old upright elite will be $408.00. Claim it is a wire harnessing issue. Not covered by warranty!
