Option 1 (easy)
you could buy a switch or router and put in line with your modem.
you will have to set up appropriate networking on the xbox
DSL --> MODEM --> SWITCH <-- PC
^---- XBOX

Option 2 (harder)
you could get a wired/wireless AP (Access Point) for your PC and run ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) through Windows. connect the XBOX through your PC

I have the speedstream 5100 modem. I just replaced my xp machine with a windows 8 and I can't get to the internet now. It tells me ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration. Any sugges

If you do not have a router you have to reboot the modem first, Modems pair with one device at a time using its MAC address, using a router allows you to add remove computers to your internet access without rebooting the router for every device because the modem pairs to the router and the router shares its internet with your other devices.

Yes you can. Connect the ethernet cable (circled in the image below) from your speedstream modem to the Lan port on your router. Hope this helps. 1c801d4.gif

I can't get my wireless g broadband router to work with my dsl speedstream 5100 modem i can connect to internet when my ethernet cable goes from my xp pc or my mac osx desktop directly to the dsl...

make sure that there is no IP conflict with the two devices. speedstream and wireless G. if both of them have same IP gateway you have to change the IP either one of them for you to have a connection.

My speedstream modem wont let me connect with wireless router

high this is a crazey fix but it might work it has done on two of my modems speedstream and speed touch and i track this problem down just so i could post this fix because i know what its like to pull your hair out over thease things its pretty simple and i know idear why it works but it has done for me
firstly if your with a internet provider and they have supplied you with a disk if your lucky it will have modem problem fixing file such as with tiscali
if like me you only get some way through it as it configures your modem hear it is take the phone of the receiver ie hook then it will configure your modem for you
if not lucky enough to have this on your set up internet cd you can still try it
by taking the phone of the hook and then rebooting your modem ie switching it of and on becarfel though it might be best if you closed your computer down first
1) take phone of hook
2)re boot modem
3)tern on computer /laptop
good luck

HOW CAN I GET MODEM ACCESS CODE ON SPEEDSTREAM 5100

hello
When you have modem plugged straight into computer, you can access it at 192.168.0.1, should ask for modem access code, (on bottom), then you can click 'advanced' > ppp location and set it for 'on computer'. There may also be a link for technician stats, it will give you info about isp connection. You should / might be able to browse but ISP may need original MAC address of machine (network adapter} you used when 1st signing up. Or if set to PPOE, it would look for name / PW in order to access INternet through ISP.
Anyway, try (after setting PPP on computer) Modem into WAN of router, access router, set PPOE > insert Log-in name / PW and save all settings. Then try homepage, if no, have router "clone MAC address" of the Network adapter you had the 5100 plugged into. Now it should work, even if no <INTERNET> light. ETHERNET light should be constant. Have router use DHCP to address machine independantly of what ISP addresses router, which it will do when modem (having connection confirmed with DSL light)

The other way, PPP location set 'on Modem', means the modem signs into ISP and then it assigns IP address with a timeout around 20 minutes. By getting connection test results when modem is connected to computer, it may seem to make sense, by understanding how ISP knows that modem access code / MAC address, and lets the settings of modem determine if router needs to sign in or not. If PPP is 'on modem', it will be looking for the MAC address of computer, that is why you may need to clone that address into router, so the router can appear as the machine to the modem, than the router assigns net address to computer.

Siemens Speedstream 4100: Enabling ports for Xbox live play

Do you have a router connected between modem and console? The speedstream itself has no port blocking. if it is a straight line between modem and console then all ports are already open, but chances are you have a router between the too, especially if you have other devices connected(computers and the like). If that is the case, then it is the router in which you need to open the ports. If you do have one, post make and model plus version number if applicable.
