Hi,
Removing the RTC battery and leaving it uninstalled for 5 or more minutes causes all passwords and CMOS settings to be cleared. BIOS password can be removed by temporarily disconnecting/ removing the RTC/ CMOS (Coin-cell) battery from the motherboard.
Disconnect the coin-cell battery from the system board and it will reset the BIOS to its default setting and the password would be gone.
Please Refer to Page 29, 106 & 79 of the REPAIR MANUAL IBM T40 for Battery removal, keyboard removal and RTC battery removal instructions.
The Backup Battery (RTC, CMOS) is located under the keyboard. So you have to remove the keyboard to access the battery. The above Manual from IBM shows the exact method/ instructions and pictures for laptop dis-assembly for the purpose.
If you are comfortable with working inside such electronics, you can't do it yourself, or else you may seek help from local laptop service professional.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

How to disable HDD Bios password in dell Optiplex 990?

The easy way to clear the bios password and reset bios is to take out the bios battery and start computer for about 10 seconds and then turn it back off and replace the battery. When you turn it back on you may need to go into the bios and reset everything the way you want it, and don't forget to rest the time and date.

You are welcome

How to disable Hard drive password

Did you clear your BIOS to rid yourself of the bios password first? Just making sure you are really looking for the hdd password (which you set while setting the BIOS password I assume) There are some tools out there to help you remove/rest the hdd password but lets be sure that's what you need to do first. Be warned, the tools don't always work and unless you remember the password you might be looking at complete data loss and a new hard drive.

Upgrade software from windows 7 starter to windows 7 ultimate need bios password

Strange. Shouldn't need BIOS password to install software. Be that as it may, the only person that is going to know that is the person who set it. None of the Major manufacturers actually set the BIOS password when they sell systems. If you have no way of finding out what it was set to by asking the previous owner your best chance to get it is to open the case after disconnecting the power and removing the BIOS or CMOS battery. This will rest the Bios to factory default.

I lost the bios of my toshiba G30 qosmi now it gives me only black screen there is no boot at all ...how i can rest the bios back again is there is any manual way to rest it ?

To reset the BIOS password you need to open your laptop to get the battery. Remove first the keyboard and screw the open the back cover of your laptop. You can see there a battery like the battery of a clock but it too large. Remove it for almost 1 seconds and put it back
If the BIOS password have there you need to hook up the CMOS jamper.
