MH3184XPS-3 started humming last night. I unplugged it. I later plugged it in and it was still humming. There is power because the clock worked, but the microwave would not start.

You should keep the oven unplugged until it is fixed or unless it is being tested.

I would first check to see if the oven is heating when it should not be.

You can place a cup of water in the oven, close the door, and let it set for about 30 seconds. (No longer or it may be damaged from overheating).

If it is, then I would suspect door switch trouble (see this text file) or an issue on the control circuit board, which we regularly repair with our $39.95 repair service.

For more information on door switches, see these help files:

Microwave not heating

In all likelihood the mangnetron has failed, or perhaps even the Power Supply. You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

Whirlpool Microwave Hood Combination MH3184XPS-0 (October 2004), for no reason at all, this morning keeps beeping and running the power setting down from 10 to 1, and just keeps doing it in rapid sequence....

Ours just started doing this exact same thing this past Friday - 12/11/09. What's going on? The cook power just starts beeping all by itself and going from 10 down to 1 over and over again. It may stop momentarily, but then starts again within a minute or so - it's constant until we unplug it. We plug it back in and within a few minutes it starts doing it again. What gives?

Kenmore built in microwave displaying "D" and wont heat.

"d" may mean demo mode. The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power outlet for 10 minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

I replaced the light bulb, now it displays -F6- and pushing any button causes a humming noise.

I left the unit unplugged over night, plugged it back in the next day and still had the same problem.

Kenmore 66562614200 Microwave controller problem?

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

At our site, we now have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly for more information & help.

Whirlpool microwavewave hood comination mh3184xp

My Whirlpool MH3184xps is shooting a spark when in use with the rack. When the rack is removed the oven works fine. I am guessing that some of the coating on the rack has cracked and peeled and is exposing some aluminum. Has anyone else had this problem?

MMV5000BAW maytag over-the-range microwave

Found this in the GE section instead of Maytag, but we're happy to answer it anyway.

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

Let us know if the hard reset doen't fix it.

If not, you may have a shorted keypad or bad control panel, either of which we can repair economically.
