Sounds like you're having a problem with the automatic document feeder. The scanner is continuing to scan but the paper is not advancing as it should during the first part of the infeed. Check to see if something is inside retarding the path of the scanned document. Or it could be worn rollers in the ADF.
Problem is in mechanical parts in ADF especially in rubber rollers so best solution is to change them. In this link below you can find (Hewlett-Packard Roller replacement kit for automatic document feeder (ADF) - C9937-68001).
There are possible 2 places for the paper jam, either the Feeder has jammed or from the input tray. For Feeder, you just have to open the feeder from the top and see if there are any pieces sticking in. Else, you can open the print head cover and look for pieces of paper jammed in it. Another place you may see is by removing the rear of the printer, it is called a duplexor which can be taken off easily. You may find some bits of pieces in rear of the printer. To avoid getting another jam, try to keep the paper in a cool and dry place. If the paper absorbs any humidity, it starts crumpling which results in paper jam. You can also try fanning the papers before putting in a bunch and use a recommended paper for the printer. Hope this helps. Cheers...
I have a Laser Jet 3050..when I try to load a oaoer to copy or fax, paper does not move...just gears moving but paper is not being pick up...any solutions?
I had a similar problem where I had a jam, cleared it and it was not working again. It was a new machine within the store's warranty where I can return things no questions asked, so I returned it and got a new one. The new feeder won't catch at all and I never had any jams with the new unit - I put a stack of paper in to convert to PDF and it will do one at a time, or if it does do more than one, it misses stuff.
I never had a problem on the old machine until the jam. I don't know why the new one is not working.
