Pride scooters are known for this problem, as I found out when it happened to mine.

You need to replace the Throttle Pot. Either take it to a mobility shop and let them do it or buy the part and do it yourself. It simply involves unscrewing the old one and screwing the new one into place, and there are diagrams to help you on the internet.

This throttle pot problem has happened to my Pride scooter three times already.

Or buy some switch cleaner and give the throttle pot a good squirt with it. What happens is the track gets `noisy` and causes a few dead spots which will cause variable running.

My bruno regal 44 scooter seems to slow down after a few hundered meters, once I stop, its at full speed again, is the a safety feature?

You maybe experiencing a brake hanging up, causing drag on the motor. the brain box senses over current use and will automatically slow down. The motor brushes maybe worn down and have a build up of carbon powder, particularly on the bottom side of the motor, causing this problem, remove brushes and blow out with compressed air, no Sprays please this can cause more harm than good. Note take out all brushes before blow it out with air. Check brushes springs are not discolored. http://www.strege.com/BlueDoc

I have a pride classic xl8 i will be go along at top speed and then for no apparent reason it starts to go slow then quick then slow

This could be something to do with the HI-LOW speed switch or the connections on it or back to the control unit. Check for loose connections first. If you have a meter, check the resistance across the Hi-LOW switch.

I am using a Dell Dimension C521 Desktop and the other day I noticed the fan started constantly entering a cycle where it would kick into high speed and then slow down again every 2 minutes. After trying...

The fans change speed depending on the temperature the sensors detect.
Give your machine a thourough cleaning.
The CPU sensor is usually located under the CPU if it's loaded with dust it may think it's hotter then need be and kicks the fan up.

To slow, i need it to go faster

Are your batteries fully charged? Are the batteries 2 years old or older? Even with a full charge older batteries will not generate amperage to make the chair go as fast as when new. Also the motors tend to slow down with age due to brushes wearing down. Now, if the batteries are new and the motors are not that old then you need to find a wheelchair provider that has a PP1 programmer and have then check the settings for forward speed etc. If the speed is not set to 100 then they can increase the forward speed to 100%. Hope this helps you

Down loaded new nortonantivirus from tiscali seams to be slowing down lap top any sugestions

Unfortunately many antiviruses tend to slow down things: they have to check each file on execution.

Check that your antivirus isn't scanning your whole system just now. Many antiviruses will do that upon first installation, to be sure they're running on a clean system. If that's the case, wait for it to complete.

If this happens often, there's a "speed" setting - fast scan will make the computer slow, but slow scan or "idle scan" will load the system much less. Try those.

Otherwise, maybe another antivirus might work better. I've always found ESET's NOD32 very light-treading even on not-exactly-bleeding-edge computers. Another one is AVG, of which there's even a Personal Free edition.

Ac problems!

Try evacuating the system. Then put the right amount. It may have too much air in the system. This is usualy an indication of either too much charge or undercharged. In an overcharged system, the higher speed pulls the low side further down making it get colder. In an undercharged system, the higher speed is able to bring up the high side more, which also result in better cooling. A properly charged ac in good working condition should be able to keep the car comfortable even when idling, but gets even colder when the car is in motion.

I have a pride victory xl8. Problem - was running

All scooters have a protection system built in to prevent burning up the motor, and the user, should the scooter overheat. It sounds like yours overheated. If the temp. outside was warm to hot, and your weight is near the weight limit for the scooter, and you are taxing the motors over a hill, or unstable terrain, then the scooter goes into "limp home mode", or just enough to get you a bit aways, and then it will turn off. After a few minutes to cool off, it will go again, but shut down fairly quickly because it takes a spell to let the whole transaxle-motor assembly to get cool.

Check your weight, and anything else you may be carrying with you on the scooter. Check the terrain, and incline you are going against. Throttle down for all these occassions. If you overloaded the system at some point, then you may have overheated the brushes. Remove them (2) with a standard screwdriver and see if the copper coil is still flexible and springy. If not, replace it/them.

The damage may already be done, so it may need a new motor/transaxle assembly. An expensive proposition I'm afraid.
