I own an iview 2600hd dvd player and im trying to hook it up to my sony trinitron tv...however, no matter how i switch my cables, the dvd player just won't show any picture or audio on my tv...and when i put a dvd in, it just says root on the dvd player screen...really confused.

Try new cables. RCA cables have a tendency to have bad connections internally. Also, triple check that you're on the right input and the wires are properly connected to the DVD player. If all that fails, try the DVD player on a different T.V. and something that uses RCA cables on your T.V, such as a cable box to make sure the input jacks on the T.V. aren't bad, and the DVD player isn't bad.
Through out all of this troubleshooting, you should manage to get the DVD player hooked up.
