That is the first sign of the DLP chip failing ,the number of white dots will increase as time goes on.
The only solution is to have the DLP chip replaced, but it is an expensive part. You can call Samsung at 1-800-samsung to find the nearest service center.
It is the chip that controls the millions of mirrors inside the tv. If they are black, they are stuck closed. If they are white, they are stuck open. I JUST had the same the same thing happen with mine. I bought it 3yr and 2 months ago and I had an extended warranty on it for 3 years. Well, needless to say, it was out of warranty and I was pissed. The store I bought it from suggested I call Samsung. Which, I did. They asked for the model number and told me that my model (hlt5675sx) was one of the ones that is covered becasue they had a problem with the chip. Within 2 weeks, my tv was fixed by a repairman who came to my house. It works perfectly, now and it didn't cost me a penny. Good luck.
Yes,this problems is the Light projection Engine. The chip is bad. This happen to many models of tvs in the industries.Sony,Samsung,Mishibishi and Toshiba they all use the same IC chip.Call Toshiba make kind of deal with them, help u replaced the chip or the Light Engine it self. This problems is not new many people went to You Tube **** about this problems.
Hi...
It appears that the "light engine" has problems
It may be dust in the unit or electrical issues on 1 of the modules on the :light engine
Find a TV tech...It's the best way to handle it
My Samsung LCD has white spots on the screen. The tiny spots seem to be increasing in numbers. I am outside my warranty. Is this going to cost a lot. It is a 43in screen.
If these spots are small, they are likely the visual effect of a failing DLP chip. When some of the tiny mirrored surfaces on the chip stop moving, this is the result. This is not something you can fix yourself. A Samsung authorized service center will charge $400-$500 to replace it for you.
