Make sure all leads that are attached to your cd/dvd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty ?
you might have to physically unplug the cd/dvd drive restart your computer this should activate the found new hardware wizard
Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak
If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
hope this helps

The vcr keeps saying no disc anad yes there is a disk in it

Clean the disk drive if possible.

I've had many a problem with DVD players saying "No Disc". It can be any number of things. On my portable DVD player, some of the problems were traced to one of the following:
  • The DVD is not properly set in the cradle,
  • The battery power left in the rechargeable batteries was not strong enough and needed to be replaced,
  • The Lens needed to be cleaned on the player.
I've had two DVD players stop working in this way, but never figured out why because the repair cost was much more than to just buy a new player.

When i try to copy dvd it keeps telling me to insert blank disc even though one is in there i can burn cds but not dvd it tells me to put in writeable disk and ive put in dvdr-w and dvd-r and still it...

Go to the device manager to insure your optical drive is in fact a DVD/RW. You should also be able to tell by looking at the front of the drive and see what it says. If it says CD Writable or DVD Rom, you cannot do it. Kind of sounds like you have a CD/RW-DVD Rom combination drive, which does not allow the burning of DVD's.

Let me know, OK.

The drive for the CD keeps saying not accessable

Hi,
I don,t think this is a Driver Problem.
More likely to be that the Disk your trying to read, is not supported by the Drive Itself.
Certain DVD Drives, only support certain types of Media. Either DVD- Or DVD+.
Try using different disks in the drive. music cds. DVD Movies et,c.
Usually you,ll get an error warning. **No drivers are installed for This Device**
