SOURCE: Can't access my lacie external hard drive
I would first plug it in to a different PC, this will tell you if the problem is the Lacie or Windows Vista.
if it works on a different PC then remove it from Device manager or go to the Lacie website for Vista updates.
If it does not work on a different PC then there are 3 possibilities
1. the drive got cleared data lost
2. the enclosure is bad (I would bet on this)
3. the drive is bad
purchase a USB enclosure, remove the drive and install it in the new enclosure plug in and test.
Hope this helps

SOURCE: Lacie 500 GB usb external hard drive clicking, and blinking....
had the same problem: (soft) clicking sound, orange/yellow blinking LED
Tried another power supply: nothing
Reattached that power supply back to the drive it was connected to: same problem there now as well!
Tried yet another power supply: working (all drives)
My guess is that the power supplies are the cause of the problem. Taking mine back to the shop next thing tomorrow morning...
SOURCE: LaCie 2d 500GB isnt recognized
Has the drive been formatted? Before using a hdd it has to be formatted. In Windows XP you have choices of FAT 32 or NTFS format. Hope this helps.
SOURCE: XP doesn't recognize 500GB external Lacie after almost 2 years
try it on different usb ports on your system
try replacing the cable which connects the hard drive with the usb port
if this does not works the problem lies in the portable hard drive and i think it would be under warranty period so get it checked
SOURCE: Hi I have a Lacie harddrive.
Check to see if your laptop has USB2 capability. It maybe that you are trying to hook a USB2 drive onto a usb 1 port. Also many postings over the internet indicate a lot of problems with Lacies. Try hooking up the drive to the usb port. Power down the laptop and then power it back on.
