I'm having the same problem, not quite sure whether it is happending due to upgrade to IE 8 or Windows Installer 4.5 installation. Cleanup and re-install of Yahoo Messenger 10 won't help. The YahooMessenger.exe fails to initialize right during the installation process.
if your problem is that yahoo messenger application is crashed then just reinstall it it will work!

Please try disable the Data Execution Prevention(DEP) or add the Yahoo messenger.exe in Data execution protection (DEP)
exclusion list. This error is comming because you have enabled DEP. I

Your yacscom.dll crashed...or marged/out dated....and Yahoo messenger can't able to update it or access because the Data Execution Protection(DEP) is enabled in your PC... Try to disable it....after that it will work again...if still you are facing it...Uninstall the yahoo messenger ....restart the PC...Download and install it again....
