Changer harness modification

Is it possible to hook up a different brand mini-disc changer(sony mdx-62) if you furnished the pinout for the kenwood changer harness since I can't find any like-brand mini-disc changers?

  • batcastle Aug 21, 2008

Thanks for that info, but there are 3 extra pins on the kenwood changer harness. What about those(this is also assuming that both harnesses are color-coded the same)?

Yes just like our mate said

I may be wrong - but I believe most CD changers these days send a digital audio signal from the changer to the head unit - and it changes it to analogue sound. Older changers did send analogue sound, but still most of these were controlled by some proprietary digital protocol.

I want to hook up a aftermarket cd player to my factory 6 disc changer in my 2007 mercury mountaineer. Is that possible? And if so what decks should I look for as far as brand?

The short answer is no. The stacker will only be compatible with certain models of head unit, and the cabling between brands is different. If you know the supplier brand of the changer then contacting them, you might find that they released an equivalent head unit to the after market. If not then the whole system would have to be replaced

This is not a car dvd/cd changer. it is a pioneer f727 301 disc changer. I took all of the dvds out and reinstalled them, still no sound.
