How long have you owned the camera and how long have you had this problem? It is either a battery issue or the something in the zoom mechanisms is defective and causing it to shut off. If you feel inclined you may want to try a new battery if you've had the camera for a while. If the problem persists you will need to look at repair/replacement.
Thank you,
Lee

Unfortunately if it's always done this it would have been best to have it repaired under warranty the first year, Now your better off purchasing a new camera as you can get one comparable or even better camera for about 80$ or so.
    Thank you and good luck,
    Lee

When recording a video zoomed in how do you get the camera to focus on the object ?

Focusing is one of the most difficult parts for every digital camera. Special on the end of the moon, and if the lights are low. Every camera needs sharp contrasting backgrounds and no distracting other high contrast objects in the foreground.
Be aware when you soon in to the end of the zoom range, you can't focus on close objects. Minimum focus distance can be a few meters.
It could be you switched to silence the focus noise, what can be bad for focusing.
See what the manual is telling you about zoom and focus:

Read the manual again, and check what settings would be the best for you while shooting video with a long zoom setting.
Here is the manual:

Why does my Coolpix overexpose images when zoomed in?

If you zoom in then press the shutter down halfway. If you zoom with the shutter pressed half way you can get an over exposed image.

How do i the camera to take smaller pictures and if it is by using the zoom do I zoom in or out.. Thanks

Hi sportingnut4 ,

Thanks for the question ,

  1. If you mean by smaller pictures i.e. small in area you have to capture the images keeping the distance in perspective.
  2. If the distance between the image and camera is more , you would find the object being captures is small and if the distance is less , you would find that the object that has been captured is bigger.
  3. If you want to capture an object which is far away you can use the Zoom In function which would zoom your camera's lens in the object.
  4. If you have already Zoomed in , then to decrease the zoom i.e. to go away from the object as if you are increasing the distance between the object and the camera , you should Zoom out.
  5. Remember , Zoom out usually only works when you have already used the Zoom in function of the camera.
Hope this helps.

I like to get up close pics of objects especially plants and scenery. The problem is when I zoom in the picture is always blurry and cannot focus on objects that are not far away. Is there anyway setting...

most cameras come with an option called macro, this setting is for close up shots.on your camera it needs to set at wide angle.when choosing the shooting mode move left or right and choose the icon of a flower.if you adjust the zoom, a zoom bar will appear at the top of the lcd.if you try to use a zoom not intended for macro shots the flower icon will gray out and the bar will appear yellow,if you take a picture with the yellow bar it will be blurry.if you zoom out a little until it stops you should be ok. if you use a flash in macro mode the images edges usually will darken.hope this helps.

While taking pictures at normal settings (without zooming), every image is coming blur ,but when we zoom.....then the image is clear. Please suggest how can we correct this setting ?

Maybe you should check the object distance setting in your camera (in FOCUS setting I think). If the camera have this setting, you can choose longer object distance for daily capturing.

Hope this help. (^_^)

Operating instructions for dsr pd177p sony video camera. I am not in postion to operate the camera, please guide how to operate the camera.

It is not very easy to say few lines to tutor ,but learn to use only by experience.Put the battery on for charging.Once fully charged slide the power switch to camera.Open the lens cap ,open the view finder display. Now you can see the picture on your screen.Set the camera to auto focus.show the camera to a white screen so as to white balance the camera. Now point at an object and do a trial Zooming using the auto zoom with your finger. The image will come closer and you can draw it to white screen.Having an object in view on the white screen, press the record button.Slowly move the zoom forward to get the right frame of the object.Press reccording button once again to stop.Repeat the process on different scenes.
Now shift the mode switch to play and rewind and play the reccorded portion.Practice.

I have problems focusing my f8000sd fuji camera when zooming in on small things.IIf I try to zoom right in on a butterfly for example,it will not focus and I can't use macro and get closer in case it flies...

Use spot metering & focus when taking pictures of an object.
Set your camera to highest Megapixel setting, Only use max. optical zoom on the subject (do not use digital zoom) .U dont need to get close to object as you can edit/zoom/crop the picture using any photo software program afterwards .

Ex p600 zoom does not realy work

I had this problem and it was because I removed the bezel around the outside of the lens so I could use an extension tube on the front of the camera.

There is a small pin on the front that needs to pressed in. The pin is only visible if the bezel is removed.

I hope this helps

Photo quality

It will be grainy a bit specially in digital zoom and even in optical zoom to the full level it might become grainy as camera is unable to absorb all the light from distant object......
