Most small pressure washers do not have an automatic throttle control to increase engine speed on demand (activated by trigger on wand). You must set the governor/throttle to about max. to get the rated pressure. A honda motor produces 5 hp when it is turning about 3600 rpm. To increase the life of the pump, use about 80 % of capacity of the pump and increase only for stubborn debris.

My pressure washer starts if handle is pulled releasing water but when handle is disengaged no longer spraying water the motor shuts off, what could cause this on my new unit.

you have a faulty unloader valve have it inspected for possible obstruction in check valve which is normally located where you connect the high pressure hose.

The pump is leaking some gray fluid

Gray fluid is usually indicative of old oil with water mixed into it. First you have to determine if the fluid is coming out of the motor or pressure pump. Then change the oil in that, or both, and then watch the condition of the oil when you use the washer. With new oil, it won't turn gray but will get a milky coloration to it. There shouldn't be any way for water to get into the motor oil short of the engine being sprayed directly with high pressure water. If water is getting into the pump oil you'll have to check the seals inside the pump.

Where can i get pump seals for honda 5hp cold pressure washer , i have no other details on this washer

doubt very much if the unit is produced by honda themselves ,but rather sone else has produced it ,and used a honda motor.i have made several myself.it could be agood quality italian pump, best way would be to go to several pressure pump suppliers and have a look at the differentpumps on the different machines untill you see one the same as yours..alternatively take the whole unit to a reputable company and i`m sure they will be able to tell you in aflash------------youdoit

Karcher Power Washer that surges up and down with water pressure.

Before you start it up:
1. Disconnect the high pressure hose 2. Connect the water supply and turn on 3. Make sure water is flowing through the pump
Start the motor, run for about 10 seconds and then turn off.
Turn off the water supply, connect the high pressure hose, turn water back on, start the motor and away you go.

No high preasure at nozzle

Try starting the washer up without a nozzle clicked in and purging water through the pump, shut it down and install the nozzle and restart, if the motor lugs then it is making pressure, if the pump squirts water out of the by-pass immediately and or constantly it may be a stuck bypass and not a bad pump.

% hp Honda Motor runs on choke

Dear LC39B,
Is it possible you are blaming the wrong part of the machine? Did you try the Honda Motor on its own? I am asking , because if the pump of the washer has some fault or a bit jammed, this will demand a lot of power from the Honda. You can try the Honda with no water connection and no gun.
Regarding the Honda motor, you should check the electrical system also. I am saying this because you did not mention it, in your service procedure.
Regards,
MG.

Powermate pressure washer Model PW0872400

pressure washers has this pressure switches where in as you press on the trigger, the washer works and if you release it, the pressure would build up high and it would trip this switch to turn off the motor or deflect the water to the by pass hose ( if the motor is not stopping) then as you press again the trigger, water should come out of the gun again but would not,

i have encountered the problem is in the pressure switch, even the pressure went down, sometimes it wont close the contact then the motor wont run ,

if the motor is continously running, then the trigger switch is the problem, the pressure excerted on the switch is so high that even if you press it , it won't open up to release the water.

what i can suggest is to tie the trigger in the gun so that it is always pressed and then just unplug the unit if you want to stop using it. it is an inconvenience but it will work.

or, open the gun and see if you can figure out why pressing the trigger would not open the switch.

another option is you can lower the pressure of the washer if it has an adjustable pessure controller. by lowering the pressure might open the switch when ever you press the trigger.

i hopw i was able to fix...

good luck,
