I'm glad to provide the instructions to connect an iPod to the Sony Receiver. Depends upon the model, it is possible that the iPod can be connected to a Sony Receiver using a Digital Media Port Adapter. Purchase the Digital Media Port separately, connect the iPod to the Digital Media Port Adapter and then connect it to the Receiver. However, some Receivers are not compatible for connecting Digital Media Port Adapter. In that case, you can connect the Headphone output of the iPod to the Aux/Line input on the Receiver. Please provide the model # of the Receiver that you're using so that I can provide more information about the specific connections. Thanks for understanding.

look on youtube there is a video telling you how to do this. I have bought faulty ipods off the net and fixed them. I had one that I had fixed and when the ipod burst back into life after I had fixed it the ipod wanted to know the password, which I didn't know.
So I went on you tube and I had a look and there were several videos on the subject.
My Ipod that I fixed was a 32 gig and I dicided not to sell it and I use it all the time. the only thing is that you will lose all the music that is on the Ipod but you get the ipod so you can use it again,
Damaged hardware is responsible for the most obvious iPod
sound problems. In such cases, Apple may be able to help you fix the problem,
depending on the status of your warranty.
All iPods have a one-year warranty according to Apple's
website.
Software problems can also affect your audio.
For example, downloading a non-certified Apple application
can stop your sound from working correctly.
Returning your iPod to its original factory settings fixes
many of these software glitches.
Plug in a different set of headphones and test the sound.
If that set works, your old headphones were the cause of
your audio problems.
If your iPod still doesn't work, proceed.
Remove an application on your iPod Touch if you installed it
right before your sound stopped working.
Hold your finger over the top left corner of the
application.
It will shake.
Touch the "X." Touch the "Home" button.
Restore your iPod to fix other potential software problems.
Open iTunes. Plug the iPod into your computer with a USB
cord.
Click on your iPod on the left-hand menu.
The iPod will be listed under the name you assigned it when
you first set it up.
Click the "Restore" button on the menu.
Leave the iPod alone while it restores. It may take several
minutes.
Test the sound once the restore is complete.
The iPod syncs after restoration.
Once the sync is complete, the process is over.

usualy means the ipod, or the software in the ipod is not compatable with the kenwood. easiest way to check, is to find someone with a new model ipod and plug it in, if it works, the problem is with your ipod, not the kenwood. If you go online and download the most recent software to your Ipod, this may fix it. If you don't know how to do this, take your Ipod to Best buy, they will download the newest software to your Ipod fairly cheap.
reset it by holding down the hold button and holding down the menu and center button for 5 seconds as is indicated in the quick start manual. also holding Menu+select could do the trick.
have you dropped your iPod or hit it pretty hard? This happened to a friend of mine when he threw his backpack on the floor. His iPod was inside the backpack and the jolt of hitting the floor physically damaged the iPod's hard drive. Unfortunately, if your hard drive is damaged, there's only one way to fix it - get it replaced. If your iPod is still under warranty or you purchased extended AppleCare for your iPod, then have Apple replace or repair your iPod. If your iPod is out of warranty, there are several third-party companies that can fix your iPod like iPodMods.
Good luck
