My Pyramid Arctic Amp 1000 watt was working fine for about a month then one day the protective light came on and stayed on as long as the amp had power. So now it wont give any watts to my two 12's. Some people have told me the amp could be blown but im not sure. What can i do to fix this problem?

SOURCE: amp over heating and cutting off

sounds like the Impedance of the speakers does not match that of the amp, therefore the output stage of the amp is trying to compensate, driving the amps too hard and eventually causing the thermal cut out to activate. Check the ratings on everything are compatible before you start sending it off to be fixed.

SOURCE: Need advice on setting up amp with my two speakers.

This is hard to explain and what needs to be done is wire in parallel both subwoofers. This website will help just put in the amount of speakers and amount of ohms each and it gives you diagram.

Trick to reset pb1217x when protect light comes on?

if the amp is shutting down and the protect light is coming on you just have to let it cool down because it is getting to hot, sounds like you are pulling to many OHMS for the amp. if you are running your speakers bridged you can try running them unbridged (parallel) and that will drop the OHMS letting it run cooler. or you might have to try a different speaker/amp combination speakers might be to many ohms for the amp.

What would be the best settings on a pyramid arctic 1000 watt amp for one JL audio w1 12

Your sub is a 4ohm woofer, running it in bridged mode + on right connection - on left connect as market on sub will give the best output. Your sub is rated at 75w to 300w and in this configuration will be getting just over 100w which about all the amp can provide with your sub/amp combo.
I don't know where they get the 1000w rating from either? the maximum the amp can possibly provide is 150w if running a 2ohm woofer in bridged mode.

Sounds to me like the amp is going into protection mode. Try placing one sub on the amp with very little gain. One of the biggest reason why this happens is because the subwoofers are wired wrong. What is the brand and model number for your amp?

mosfet have a built in shut off incase of a blown resistor, if the resistor blows,it will shut down the amp, the resistors job is to inhibit power to prevent overheating, you will have to check the OHMS of each resistor to find out which one has gone......hope this was helpfull

Amp not working correctly goes into protection

Disconnect the speaker wires from the amplifier and see if it still goes into protection mode. If it still goes into protect with the speakers disconnected, there's a problem with the amp; if not, you may have a blown speaker or a shorted speaker wire.
