I have an older earthquake tiller I think 06...I was running it and it started to loose power for about
5 min and then died.. It got hot but everything is free.. I have spark to the plug.. But acts like its not getting any fuel......

It is very likely water in the fuel. by a bottle of gas line antifreeze, it will soak up any water. add about a half bottle or slightly less. let it sit for about five minutes then try to restart it.

Check for a clogged air filter.Try starting it without the air filter installed. Check for loose wires to the spark plug and ground. I am assuming there is gas in the tank, but does it get to the carb? Check the gas line, is it blocked? Is the carb leaking?

I have the same issue, I thought it was the carburetor so I cleaned it and put it back together, same issue, I put a new carburetor on it same issue, has great spark, if I spray carb cleaner into it, it will start and run for a few seconds even throttle up, but then it dies, and will not start again without carb cleaner spray, and fuel is fresh and properly mixed, very confusing indeed.
me too...does your engine get abnormally hot? My F-I-L says mine's a bad carburetor. $60 replacement + shipping. I may give it a try...sad though...I don't think I have more than 3 hours run time on this stupid thing. (MC43)
Definitely stay away from Ryobi, Troy Bilt, Bolens and Yard Machines by MTD. They are all Ryobi with different brand names on them. (goes for trimmers too) MTD owns them all. The best small tiller, IMHO, is Mantis. (2-cycle) I think Sears sells them now. I have one and it will run circles around the rest.
