HISTORY: Every time when the computer was powered up, there was a message "CMOS battery low" and F1/F2 selection for proceeding. ACCIDENT: I replaced a memory chip (power cord out, static e checked) and started a computer. The computer didn't load (no bios messages, no "beep"0 - black monitor), but the fan was working, CD drive was working. ATTEMPTS: - put back an old memory chip - same story. - replaced existing CMOS battery (tablet 3V CR 2032 lithium battery) with a new one - same story - removed memory chips - same story - reset CMOS jumper - same story HARDWARE: Motherboard type - AMD M810D v 7.5 with nothing on it,except for the graphic card and RAM. Memory type - DDR
If your battery finally died then most likely your motherboard was cleared. you need to find the motherboard setup disk to set it up for use again. I have the same problem but the cmos clear jumper on the board was moved purposely in my case.I never thought i would erase the board just reset it. OOPS.
For your problem the computer may display a prompt to press F1/F2 or any other key to enter setup each time the computer boots as a reminder on how to enter CMOS. However, if the computer asks to press F1/F2 (or another key) to enter setup and does not continue, this may be caused by any of the below reasons.
New hardware has been recently installed
If new hardware has been recently installed into the computer, it is likely that you are receiving the prompt "Press F1 or F2 to enter setup" because CMOS needs to verify that the new detected hardware is properly being setup in CMOS. Enter CMOS setup and save the settings and exit. If you continue to get errors continue to the next step.
Error or confliction with settings in CMOS
If no new hardware has been added or you continue to get this prompt verify no error or conflictions exist in CMOS. Press the key to enter setup and verify that all settings are correct.
If your time and date are not set correctly, your battery is more than likely bad. Try setting the correct time and date, save the settings and then reboot. If after turning off the computer the time and date get reset again replace the battery.
If the time and date are correct and everything else appears to be correct try resetting the CMOS values to the defaults.
CMOS battery is bad or failing
If you continue to receive the prompt to enter setup each time the computer boots up and you have attempted to follow the above suggestions, your CMOS battery is bad. We recommended that the CMOS battery be replaced.
hope this will help you.
When you "start" the computer, and the {"Screen"} displays a "Error Message."[CMOS] "error checksum!"
Settings: "Default" loaded.A "checksum error" shows that:
The ("Boot-up Settings "have been changed?"), ie. "Booting OS."
*Boot File 'missing'.
"This can 'occur' if the computer was "shut-down unexpectedly."
Force Shut-down : Power lost; due to 'low battery...'
A ("Power Surge") can cause this 'problem' also.
"What 'happens is that the [CMOS] settings are lost!".
"To fix the problem!"
Do the following:
"Restart / Boot the computer.
Next, verify if the 'error message' displays?
If you are still getting the message?
"You will have to "Remove the CMOS battery form the computer!"
Shut-down the computer.
"Unplug the computer from the {Wall Out-let}.
Remove the Lithium battery from the "Notebook."
There is a compartment (underneath) the "Notebook that 'store' the CMOS battery."
"You will need a {very small Phillips screwdriver}. *Remove the CMOS battery for: [30 minutes].
!Important: If you have to do it again?
Remove the CMOS battery for a {'longer amount of time'}.
Replace the "CMOS battery."
Next, "Only plug the Power Adapter into the computer.
"Do not - replace the "Lithium battery!"
Once you have completed these 'task'.
"Restart the computer."
"Press the [F2] key, to 'enter' the CMOS / BIOS Setup!"
Next, 'reset' (all) "Values to the Default Settings."
"Press the [F10] key to 'Save' the changes!"
!Important: "Take a 'moment to rate the help', so I can get 'credit' for the work.
Thank you!" - paul7of9

THis is M810D v.7.5 and it holds DDR type of ram.
I tried it first on my other machine and the chip worked just fine (even it is not exclude what you just said).
But then even with the old chip it didn't start.
I had the same problem. I received the low batery message.I didn´t change the memory. One friend asked me to just install a fresh copy and then give it back to him. When he tested it on his house it didn´t turn on. Now only the CD an fan are "working". There is no beep and no image on the screen. Could it be a problem with the CMOS? Have you solved this problem?
I have the same problem, Only Tried to just flash the cmos and it clear it instead. I found a manual for the board and it said you need the motherboard installation disk. And I cannot find it anywhere
