MIDI would be slower and would depend on the software and drivers as far as it working. Just have the USB jack replaced. Jacks are not very expensive.

I need software for my phone to read midi devices like the alesis vortex keytar through USB. Any help?

Midi sends serial codes at a fixed clock rate. You can download a decoder program run from your computer that can look at the codes coming in from your USB post. I don't think your phone can run these but a portable laptop should be able to.

How to fix a midi usb port

If connector pin is broken, replace it.
Use cable that is already known for sure is good.
If these things do not resolve the problem, there may be damage to electronic components within the unit. Chances are MIDI interface IC.

Keys working explanation or user guide

You need to load software on your computer that contains midi sounds - sampletank, Reaktor, etc. Make sure everything is set to Midi channel 1.

Hello guys, i have a problem with my midi keyboard. My PC doesn't recognize the USB connection and i can't find any solution.

Well first start by verifying USB port works by plugging in a hard drive or something thus proving you have a good port and USB Cable. At which point hook the keyboard up ( and make sure to properly install drivers provided on cd with purchase) being a pc this may take several attempts to install. What software are you trying to control? Reason? Logic? Fruityloops?

I'm trying to use the pads of my Yamaha DTXplorer drum kit as triggers for the sounds stored on my Alesis SR-18 drum machine. I have seen that Alesis markets a trigger module of their own which they...

you need to determine what midi note the DTXplorer is using for the snare, kick and 3rd tom, and set the SR-18 accordingly, or vica-versa. the midi notes for each instrument has to be the same.

if you cannot change the midi note in either unit to make them correspond, you can download a "midi mapper" program (i think e-drum might be one), there is freeware available if you search CNet. with a midi mapper program, you would have to get a midi/usb adapter for your computer and rouite the midi signal through a computer. midi mapping software allows you to change the midi note, when the hardware itself is incapable of doing so.

I plugged the USB to MIDI lead input nd output the wrong way around on my Alesis Sr 16 and it stopped working. Have I blown something inside?

You should NOT be able to damage the unit by reversing in and out on MIDI connections.

MIDI connections are fairly safe against damage unless you drive a ground loop into the output ones.

ALWAYS operate any connected equipment from the SAME power source receptacle.

Fopr instance, do NOT have a musical device powered froma wall receptacle across the room and connected to a computer on the other side as an example.

How do i dump midi user patterns from alesis sr 16 to alesis sr18 drum machine thru midi cable

you may well have to go via a third unit, a computer or laptop to store the data then send it back to the other machine.

Cannot transfer beats from alesis sr16 to alesis sr 18 thru midi cable. Please advise.

The sync signal that is sent on the MIDI cable is actually a "clock" of something like 96 ticks per measure. This is the "MIDI sync clock". This is a single byte FF hex.

The beats themselves are not sent. The firing of the individual percussions should be.
