How to bypass mtd8 - Hardware & Accessories

To permanently bypass the timer, you have to move wiring.
I don't have specific wiring diagram or programming manual for mtda8 timer, but am familiar with wiring din-rail mounted digital timers.

1) Wiring is typical across all din-rail timers, with variations of same theme depending on number of channels and purpose.
2) Open following illustration of wiring:
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/DIN-series-wiring-300.jpg
Same-similar illustration shows on side of timer.

3) Notice the mtda8 has 5 screw terminals.
4) Two screws are for incoming power. These terminals are usually labeled 1 and 2. These wires power the timer.

5) Three more screws are for the timing relay. These screws are usually labeled 3 4 and 5.
Typically the #4 center screw is common, and carries power. And when timer is ON, power is live between #4 and #3 terminal. When timer is OFF, power is live between #4 and #5 terminal.

6) Move #3 wire to #4 or #5 screw and then the timer function is bypassed.

How to confirm timer settings major mtd8

Din rail timers and manuals appear on following link:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Din-rail-timers-and-manuals.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/MTD8-timer-Manual.pdf

The manual is not specific how to confirm the program settings ... other than maybe connecting the load and seeing if it turns on-off as programmed.
Don't forget to reset timer before programming.

Locating the water heater bypass on forest river 398

Locating the water heater bypass on a Forest River RV, specifically the Forest River Georgetown 398 model, can vary based on the specific layout and design of the RV. However, in most RVs, including Forest River models, the water heater bypass valves are typically located near the water heater unit itself. Here are some general steps to help you locate the water heater bypass on your Forest River Georgetown 398:
1. **Identify the Water Heater Unit:**
- The water heater in your RV is usually located inside a cabinet or compartment, either inside the RV or accessible from the exterior.
- It is commonly found in the kitchen area, bathroom, or an exterior compartment.
2. **Access the Water Heater Compartment:**
- Locate the compartment where the water heater is installed. This could be inside the RV or in an exterior storage compartment.
- Open the compartment door to access the water heater.
3. **Look for the Bypass Valves:**
- Once you have located the water heater, look for the bypass valves near the water heater unit.
- The bypass valves are used to redirect water flow during winterization or maintenance to bypass the water heater.
4. **Check Behind the Water Heater:**
- In some cases, the bypass valves may be located behind or on the backside of the water heater unit.
- You may need to remove a panel or access door to reach the bypass valves.
5. **Identify the Bypass Valve Configuration:**
- The water heater bypass system typically consists of three valves: a cold water valve, a hot water valve, and a bypass valve.
- The bypass valve should be set to bypass the water heater when winterizing the RV or performing maintenance.
6. **Consult the RV Manual:**
- if you have one, refer to the owner's manual or documentation provided with your Forest River Georgetown 398 for specific information on the location and operation of the water heater bypass system.
If you are unable to locate the water heater bypass valves or have difficulty accessing them, it may be helpful to consult with a Forest River dealer or RV service center for assistance.

How to take ups in manual bypass mode.

You definitely want to follow the manual procedure to avoid a possible load loss:

http://powerquality.eaton.com/Products-services/Backup-Power-UPS/9390.aspx?cx=3

9.1.4 Transfer from Normal to Bypass Mode
To transfer the critical load to Bypass mode:
C A U T I O N
In Bypass mode, the critical load is not protected from commercial power interruptions and abnormalities.
1. Press the CONTROLS pushbutton on the main menu bar. The System Controls
screen appears.
2. Press the BYPASS pushbutton on the System Controls menu bar.
The UPS transfers to Bypass mode and the critical load is immediately supplied
by the bypass source. If the bypass source is not available, the power processor
remains on and an alarm sounds.
3. The UPS is now operating in Bypass mode and the BYPASS status indicator is
illuminated.
The power module (PM) status indicates READY. The system is now on bypass
and the UPS power processor remains on.

At this point, you can operate an external bypass switch to get to maintenance bypass if needed.
