Sometimes my dehumifier (Goldstar) leaks. It is not full and the collecting bucket is fitted properly. I see that there is a flap around the pipe coming from the coils. Is it possible that this flap is not sealed and water is dripping somehow outside the bucket (also, there is no hole in the bucket. Ever hear of this before?

Gary, most of the time, what you described is caused by 2 thing:

1. The cooling coils are icing up and not thawing as they should. This is usually caused by a dirty or clogged air intake filter. Solution: Turn the unit OFF, unplug it and remove and clean the air intake filter.

2. The drain hole or tubing, that drains water into the bucket is clogged. Solution: Using an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar that is flexible (NO wire coat hangers, though) and appropriately sized to fit into the hole or tubing. Carefully insert the Zip Tie and continue to push it in, until to reach the bend in the tubing. You must gingerly work it past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. While slowly pulling it out, rotate (twist) the Zip Tie and as it reaches it's end, be prepared for some water to follow. That procedure will loosen any clogs.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let e know. Thanks.

I have an upright goldstar dehumifer that only worked in year. it will not come on. i have cleaned the filter. it has an automatic shut off if the basket is full. how do i get this to work again

First, be sure that the water collection bucket is installed properly and is making contact with the bucket safety removal switch that is located on the rear wall of the bucket holder. In addition, while you have the bucket out, check the inside of the bucket for a float valve. It may be stuck in the UP position. In which case, it will not turn ON. When reinstalling the bucket, be sure that it fit's "squarely" into the bucket holder from top to bottom. When installed properly, the bottom of the bucket will not tilt down at all and make good contact with the safety removal switch.

In addition, you may want to check the outlet it's plugged into, to be sure there's power to the outlet and ultimately to the dehumidifier.

Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Overflow on floor

The problem you're having can be caused by a couple things.

1. The float valve in the top of the water collection bucket is broken or is stuck in the Down position.
Remove the bucket, and inspect the float valve for damage or sticking. If it's stuck in the DOWN
position, jiggle the arm of the float valve, to make it works freely.

2. The water collection bucket is not installed properly and water is leaking out the back of the
top of the bucket. When installing the bucket, be sure it's installed "squarely" into the bucket
holder from top to bottom and making firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the
rear wall of the bucket holder.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi, we have an older model Goldstar. It shows on the inside label Model DH40. Is this a dehumidifier? We would appreciate a response. It has a holding container which we assume collects water. Please...

Yes, you have a 40 pint Goldstar Dehumidifier. The holding tan., also referred to as a bucket fits into the bucket holder on the front of the unit. When installing it, be sure it fits "squarely" in to the holder from top to bottom. The bottom should not tilt down at all, when installed properly. The unit will not operate without the bucket being installed properly.

Hope this helps you, Ken and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My goldstar dehumidifier it not working when i turn it on the machine n have no power. what can i do. in need help please

A couple of things can cause your problem.

The water collection bucket is not installed properly or is full. Remove the bucket and empty it if necessary. Then carefully reinstall it, so that it fits "squarely" in to the holder from top to bottom. It must make firm contact with the bucket safety removal switch on the back wall of the holder. Also, while you have the bucket out, check inside the top of the bucket for a float valve (if yours is so equipped), as it may be stuck in the UP position, Jiggle the handle to get to return to the DOWN position.

If all of the above fails to solve the problem, check the outlet the unit is plugged into, to make sure there's still power to it and that the circuit breaker for that outlet hasn't been tripped. If it has, unplug the unit, before resetting the breaker.

I hope the above helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

No water collecting, unit running

the collector base under the tubes just collects water and drips it through a hole into the water bucket. there must be a loose hose(if it has one) or the base collector or bucket has a crack, as they usually are plastic. also if the unit is sitting on a very uneven floor this will happen

With an external pipe or even the bucket attached it seem to leak onto the floor below, what am i doing wrong

You may have a blockage in the metal or plastic collection pan under the coil that sweats to take water out of the air. Possibly some pet hair, lint etc. Have you cleaned it lately? Could the pan be rusted through somewhere? Is it level? Could you the collection bucket be cracked at or near the hose connection?

I have a Goldstar GHD30 dehumidifier. I have not used it in awhile. I plugged it in to run it today and it does not turn on. I cleaned the screen and tried different outlets, nothing works. HELP!

Check the condensate collection bucket. If the bucket is not inserted correctly the dehumidifier might think the bucket is full and thus not turn on.
