Dear Concern, I have a pentax digital camera, which i had bought from dubai in 2009 .I am a resident of New Delhi, India and now i am having some problem in camera i.e. screen is not working in camera.It is completely blank when caera is on also. I find if you try to turn the camera on without any batteries in, or with them in the wrong way round (be careful!) then it jolts the camera into realising the battery situation has changed.  So when you put in new batteries it bothers to "search" to see if there are new ones before giving out the "battery depleted" message.  I spent over £20 on rechargeable and lithium batteries before I figured this out!

I had almost similar problems with my A10 from day one. The camera shuts down before the battery is depleted, most of the time while I was operating the zoomlens. I bought a new battery, but that didn't solve it. Later I decided to take it apart as a last option. As my suspicion was the zoomlens I took out two crews of the motor that operates it. Now the motor has a bit more space to move. It seemed to be too tight against the gears so it could cause an overload. After that it worked perfectly. I made pictures for hours without having the same fault again. Be carefull too make notes where all the tiny screws belong of the casing. And maybe it will be enough to just loosen the motorscrews, but leaving them out will not make it fall out of it's place. I hope someone can use this information.

The lenses are probably manual focus lenses,  

1. Make sure that the apature ring is set to 'A' or automatic, 
   
2. if these are manual focus lenses then switch the focus switch on the left side of the camera body to MF 
3. If this still doesn't work, or you are having trouble with the apature ring then press the menu button to go to the  menu then press the right arrow key untill you are in the  Custom Settings, scroll through the custom settings with the up and down arrow keys until about the 2nd from bottom there is an option called "using aperture ring" set this to 2 (Permitted) This will make the camera take a image when lens is on any f-stop manually.
