Homelite Factory Reconditioned 26cc Gas-Powered MightyLite Hedge Trimmer Logo
Posted on Jun 14, 2011

My 26HT reconditioned trimmer will start and run on full choke but, if I take it off to middle choke, it dies. It doesn't run right on full choke but does rev up enough to engage the blades. Has fresh gas mix.

Sounds like a carb problem You will have to take the carb off and strip it down to parts clean out all the ports with a good cleaner I use brake clean reassemble and reset the High speed and low speed jets at 1.5 turns out then adjust from there

Gas Trimmer will not stay started

Many times with a gas mix, after sitting for a while, the mix separates and gums up the carb. Taking the carb off and soaking it overnight in a parts or carb cleaner and running carb cleaner through the tank and gas lines will cure this.

Ryobi CS30 Trimmer starts and runs in full choke and half choke but stumbles and stalls on run. Not up to full rpms when in full choke and half choke....

You probably need a slight carburetor adjustment. Try to turn the L mixture screw (the one near the bottom of the carburetor on the air filter side, closest to the engine) 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn counterclockwise. These mixture adjustment screws ( L and H) have odd heads on them and conventional tools won't turn them. I use an automotive type plastic wire connector (around 22 gauge) with a ring terminal end which I can hold. Tap the plastic end of the wire terminal connector onto the head of the screw with a small hammer and this will enable you to adjust the L screw. This adjustment will increase you high speed side and possibly allow it to run off choke in a regular manner.

Ryobi 25cc grass timmer, cuts out when full throttle applied

Are you running a gas/oil mix? If you are try making sure you didnt add too much oil (will usually smoke) and will possibly stall. Your air fuel mixture may be off and need adjusting too.

Ss30 won't idle after starting

Hi Steve,

You will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner. Make sure the small screen in the carb. is free of debris. Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Reassemble and start.

(NOTE: If the cleaning doesn't work, then buy a carb. kit and replace all appropriate parts.)

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

Ryobi weed trimmer

check the fuek lines for hole and leaks, check the fuel filter and clean if necessary. remove the carbuerator and inspect the gasket; it should be soft and flexible, if it seems hard or brittle replace it. clean the carb with carb cleaner sray (available at any local auto parts store) and compressed air. make sure you get inside the small fuel rail holes. also check the primer bulb for pin holes and proper seating/seal. i

Riobi trimmer

To fix this you will need to take out the small carb and throughly clean it with spray carb cleaner. Then I purchased a carb rebuild kit and replaced three things.
2 gaskets and 1 accelerator pump. The pump was the main culprit and you could tell the old one was worn due to the elasticity being gone in the diaphram.
Put everything back together and it works great.
As a side note, I found out you should use 89 grade gas or higher on these small engines along with a good oil additive like ECHO or Stile. The better gas will not eat up the gaskets or ruin the accelerator pump.
