Maytag dryer runs about 30 min. and starts making a loud noise. I turn it off 5-10 min. Restart is quiet then louder with time. Month prior had restricted airflow code cleaned vent no prob. till now
The dryer drum rotates on two rollers towards the back. The bearings in these rollers dry out and freeze up or barely turn. The drum then bumps around on them making noise. Unplug the dryer. Remove the front panel by removing two screws on lower end and lift panel back and up so top comes out. Remove the frame (4 screws) holding the drum and fan cover. Unplug electric wires from door switch. Carefully pull the drum out a few inches, look thru the back of the drum and record on paper the threading pattern of the belt on the pulleys to the lower left of the drum. Continue removing drum and belt. Take the clips off of the two rollers that the drum was rolling on back there. Remove the two rollers and clean the bearing surface and shaft. Lube the two surfaces with suitable oil or grease. I use silicone grease. Also remove belt idler pulley and lube bearing surface. Reassemble all. To put belt on, hang it on the drum, slip the drum in 3/4 of the way, reach thru the drum and thread the belt on the drive and pulley correctly. Ease the drum onto the two rollers in back, rotate the drum while easing the belt into proper running position. You should be able to fit the front roller frame into the cloth lined channel, then replace the front panel. Plug it back in. Try it! Don't mess with it with the power on.
