Technics SH-GE70 Home Equalizer Logo
Anonymous Posted on Jun 14, 2011

Following a split from my boyfriend I really need some help in how to connect up my hifi system. It's all technics Tuner Receiver ST 610L Equaliser SH GE70 Amp SU V470 CD Changer SL MC400 Tape Deck RS TR355 I figured the red white leads go from the receiver to the amp I figured the red white leads go from the CD changer to the amp But then I get stuck because the tape deck has in's and outs and I'm not sure what goes where, especially the graphic equaliser. Any help would really be appreciated, thanks in advance

The amp should have an in and out for the cassette player also,, so you would go from the Out on the receiver, to the in on the cassette,, and out of the cassette to the in on the receiver, I don't have nor can I locate that EQ , but basically,, you need to come out of the eq and back the same way you would a Cassette player,,

the amp should have an in and out for the cassette player also,, so you would go from the Out on the receiver, to the in on the cassette,, and out of the cassette to the in on the receiver, I don't have nor can I locate that EQ , but basically,, you need to come out of the eq and back the same way you would a Cassette player,

I'm a bit lost on that

But If I read it correctly I connect the out on my EQ to the in on my cassette deck and then the in on my EQ to the out on my cassette deck.

Is that right and if so will the EQ also work on my CD deck (my CD deck isn't wired to the EQ yet)

Sorry to be so dumb and thank you for your replies and help

Hi Liz sorry it took me so long to get back to you , Ok,,I'm not sure what you have for inputs or outputs on your specific parts to this stereo , so lets try this again,, basically what you have that powers everything is the amp, so lets start there. and work with the EQ and the receiver, so,, first,, you need to go from the amp, to the eq, and back, this way anything that you ad after the fact will be patched through the EQ so everything works with that, So, Locate the Input and output from the amp,, add 2 RCA connections to that , red being right and white being left . you go out of the amp, to the in of the EQ,, and out of the EQ back into the In on the amp. This gives you sound that you can adjust with the EQ . now the receiver I assume is for stations mostly,, should have a spot by itself to the amp also? if not we can address that later. Be sure and do all of this with the units unplugged !!! ok so now we have that . Now, the cassette player,, yes you had that right,, in to out and out to in, so that completes the cassette , Now the CD player ( its just a player and not a recorder ) so you should just have one in to the amp from that , right and left. if you have a record player that should have a spot also,, just incase , so ya following me so far ? if this is ok,, or you need more info,, just let me know, I get a message received when you reply so I'll be sure and check back here ok. if the receiver needs to use the inputs on the amp and thats where the eq is at , lemme know as thats a pretty easy fix.

SOURCE: Having a hard time connecting various audio components

Yes, it is a little tricky...

1) CD Changer (output) -> CD input on Amp

this is tricky... this will allow you to record to your tape deck, and control the sound via the EQ:
2) Tape Deck (tape out / recout) -> TAPE PLAYBACK on EQ
3) Tape RecOut on EQ -> Tape 1 Playback on Amp
4) Amp Tape 1 RecOut -> Tape Deck Playback / Input / RecIn
in essence, your creating a loop starting from the tape deck, going to the eq, then to the amp, then back to the tape deck to record.

Your EQ has another set of LINE IN and LINE OUT - use the second Tape 2 on the amp to create another loop. This will
allow you to control the EQ for any of the other sources.
5) LINE IN on EQ -> Tape 2 RecOut
6) Tape 2 Playback on Amp -> LINE OUT on EQ

5) Radio Tuner (output) -> Tuner input on Amp
6) DVD/VCR Combo Output -> AV/AUX on Amp

7) PC Computer... you don't have room for this. You can either use the PHONO input, and you'll have to purchase a Line Level Phono Converter
or, get a Y cable and split the signal and share with some other source.

Hope this helps.

1. connect the cd player out to the LINE input of Equlizer.
2. connect the Record out of equlizer to Tape's Record input.
3. connect the Play out of the Tape to the Play in of Equlizer.
4. connect the Line out of the Equlizer to the CD input of amp.

I have a turntable connected to my technics hifi system but the volume is very low the hifi system is the sc-dv 290 help woud be apricaited

I imagine it is also tinny. Is your unnamed TT self-preampified?

It always helps to know some details about BOTH parts of the scenario when they don't work together. I'm sure the TT's manual would identify how to use it.

http://audio.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/technics/scdv290.html

"PHONO" is the only designated connection on an audio device that is literal and exclusive. Nothing but PHONO will work right on it and old-school turntables would require it to preamplify and frequency-correct the tiny current produced by a Phono cartridge. Look up RIAA equalization.

If your unit doesn't have a PHONO connection AND your TT doesn't have a self-contained preamp you will have to get a Phono Preamp to connect between the TT and any Line Level input, like Aux.

eBay always has some...

Technics ST-X302L tuner - Unit not powering on

i have the same unit and a similar problem, after a fall of the tuner on the floor while i was cleaning my room, first times the st-x302l was powering fine but after some minuts it quit alone.. now (i dont know why) it remains on but if there is an interruption of electricity it dont turn on anymore, it turn on only by removing the metal chassis and moving random the electronics.. i think it has some electronic contact or circuit break.. i brought it to a specialist in electronics and he told me the reparation would be too expensive so i prefer to try fix it by myself.
