It sounds like the sustain is stuck on as if a sustain pedal is active. You don't mention if you have one, however if you MIGHT have one and you have used a Roland pedal, that brand is reverse sensed and would cause note to remain on.

When I plug in stereo headphones in the casio wk 210, the sound only comes out of one ear. I didn't really care about that before, but now when I connect a line out from the piano to my computer to...

The output of the casio may only be mono, you can buy splitters to create a 2x channel output. Is there any other outputs from the casio other than headphones, usually there are red/white RCA outputs (Phono's) which would be better for connecting to your soundcard.

Hope I was of use to you, good luck.

One of my keyboard black keys is playing louder than usual what can i do?

One of the two contacts of that key is dirty. This cause the key velocity to be read as maximum making it loud. The keyboard contacts are conductive rubber pills that press across circuit traces on a board under the keys. CLean the pills and the traces GENTLY with ONLY 99% isoprophyl alcohol and Q tips. Getting at the contacts requires a lot of careful disassembly of the keyboard to get at the contacts.

Re: Casio WK-210. Audacity, Jet Audio and Ctrl Pnl allow me to choose a USB PnP "record from" option, however, no sound is being recorded from the Casio to the PC. What am I doing wrong. Many...

Pat, the USB output on the Casio WK-210 is only capable of sending and receiving MIDI information. It's not sending any digital or analog audio. Audacity is primarily for sound file editing.

In order to use the keyboard to record onto your computer you can connect an audio cable from the 1/8" stereo mini-jack to an input on your computer. Then you can record into Audacity.

Or you can acquire MIDI recording software (ie. Logic, Cubase) and then using the USB output on the keyboard, you can control and record multiple MIDI instruments in those programs.

My WK- 3700 Casio keyboard is malfunctioning.

One portion of the key scanning matrix has gone bad. First thing is to clean the contacts with 99% isoprophyl alcohol. These USUALLY consist of traces on a circuit board that conductive rubber "pills" under silicone rubber domes are pressed down. Each note usually has two contacts, one closes before the other. This creates "velocity" measurement for the key. IF ONE of the contacts for a key doesn't work, the velocity can detect that the note has actuated, but no release occurs.

This would be on the "STROBE" line for either the first or second contact for THE OCTAVE you have problem with. There are disconnect diodes that prevent sneak paths.

You could have one bad diode, a crack in the circuit board, or a bad connection to the keyswitch board.

Most of these have VELOCITY sensing and that involves two contacts per note. If the velocity sense on those notes is somehow not working, broken wire or trace on the board or short that MIGHT cause your problem.

SMF converter for wk-500, Does it exist?

No.

I have a Wk-8000 & a CDP-200R, the later is the same as wk-500 but with 88 weighted hammer keys.

Since wk-500 can play SMF (Midi 0 & 1) format directly from a SD card and there is enough polyphony to play anything, I don't find any real reason to convert SMF to any "Casio Format". Just get a 2GB SD card and put your SMF files in the MUSDAT folder for the SD CARD using your PC/MAC.
