There are several reasons why your T2 Direct Dehum 3 dehumidifier may be alarming after running for a few seconds:
Dirty or Clogged Air Filter: A dirty or clogged air filter can cause the dehumidifier to overheat and shut down. Check the air filter and clean or replace it if necessary.
Defective Humidity Sensor: If the humidity sensor is defective, it may cause the dehumidifier to shut down. The sensor may need to be replaced.
Faulty Compressor: A faulty compressor can cause the dehumidifier to shut down after running for a short time. You may need to replace the compressor.
Low Refrigerant Charge: If the refrigerant charge is low, it can cause the dehumidifier to shut down. You may need to recharge the refrigerant.
Faulty Control Board: A faulty control board can cause the dehumidifier to shut down or display error messages. You may need to replace the control board.
It is recommended to contact a qualified technician to diagnose and repair the issue with your dehumidifier.
CH 01 usually indicates that the filter is dirty and needs to be removed and cleaned. Turn the unit OFF and unplug it, before removing the filter. Never operate the unit without the filter in place.
If the unit is titled forward at all, the "full bucket" "trip switch" will not trigger off as it should. Be sure the unit is on a flat, level surface, or leaning backward slightly--this also aids drainage through the drain tube, if that's your set-up.
I have a Comfortaire BHD501 dehumidifier. A couple weeks ago I noticed ice building up on top of the unit,so I unplugged it to defrost. I plugged it back in and it worked until I noticed the "CH" "01" code. It would run a few seconds then shut off with that code showing. I took off the front of the unit and noticed rust on some of the metal parts. Then I took the cover off the circuit board for the front read out. I noticed corrosion on some of the solder points. When I looked closer at the plastic cover for the circuit board I noticed a small burn mark. The water from the melting ice must have run behind the cover and shorted out the circuitboard. At this point I don't know if new boards are available.
When you push the power button, the blower fan comes on. In a few
minutes you should hear a second "click"--that is your compressor
starting. Do you hear that second click?
The compressor is located in the rear bottom on the right side looking at the machine. After you press the start button and the blower fan comes on, bend over near the back of the unit and listen for the "click".
