Volume up button will not work on my JBL OnStage II Unit. Remote Control is the only way to turn up the volume.

  • scott05 Jun 13, 2011

Cant seem to find any screw holes for disassembly of the unit. Only a "reset?" button hole but no screw holes. Any ideas?

  • scott05 Jun 13, 2011

OK. I got it apart but the button you mentioned cannot be "pushed". There is a screw (which is tight) and a red and white wire leading from that to a small harness that is plugged in to a circuit board. The volume up and down buttons, when new, responded to delicate touch (warmth of the finger I believe).

HI,

This is not a big problem, even operating from remote controller is better. It makes long lasting to your hardware. But you should repair the volume button. There is the problem of circuit or the button. Change the button with a new compatible button. You can purchase button from nearest JBL service centre or JBL accessories shop. If it doesn't solve your problem then you have to repair the circuit.

Hello,
fault is from the button of the unit. There is every tendency that the button is not contacting the panel inside the unit, that is why it is not responding.
You need to disassemble the unit to find out.
Get a screw driver that can fit into the unit, unscrew all screws. Use a flat screw drive to pry the unit from the side in order to take the cover/case apart.
Locate the volume part, turn on the unit and press the volume button directly on the panel. If the volume works, it means there was not contact that why the volume didn't work.
But it the volume still doesn't work, then problem is from the control board.
Perform the above task and let me know the out come.
I hope you understand the message I am trying to pass across. And I hope it makes sense to you.
Regards.

Okay, in that case, use a flat screw drive to pry it in order to take the cover apart.... You should see a kind of line that joins the cover together. Is it clipped, so use the flat screw driver to pry in so that it can be un-clipped. You need to apply some force in order to take it apart.

The volume is not responding from either the remote or the console; mute function not working either.

Check your remote control to see if the buttons are working properly. Or go into your unit's settings and check what the volume default is set to - It might be set to prevent it from going lower or higher.

The sound is screeching when the volume is louder

that screeching is called feedback..which is caused by loop oscillation in plain english that means that sound is going from the speaker to the microphone and "looping" causing feedback noise or "screetching" there is nothing you can do but lower the volume it's a normal phenom not a fault in the product but more user error. sorry to say. the only thing you can do is lower the volume till it goes away.

Unit turns on but there is no volume

Check its speaker first. If it is found OK, check and replace audio output board as card basis. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for more details. Click this link. View it in 'Flip card' option, which can be selected from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner of the display window. It will make search easy. There are more than 900 posts to different brand TVs now.

Bose Sound Dock remote control - only volume works

My remote worked perfectly until I changed the battery. The original battery was CL 2032 and I replaced it with DL 2032. After replacing the battery, only the volume control works. The off button will only fade the sound while the button is depressed. Release the button, and the volume returns to the original level and the unit remains On.
None of the other buttons work.

Will not charge a ipod touch 2

If you're willing to spend $40, there's an adapter available from Scosche Accessories. It comes in both black and white and they say it will convert any docking device to the new charging format. (The problem is that Apple has discontinued charging via the FireWire pin - which virtually all accessories - even including Bose - have used up to now. All the 2nd Generation stuff now uses direct USB charging, not FireWire.

Check out the convertor at:
