Since you declined to specify the model of your VTech answering machine I can't give you a definite answer, but most models will only let you change the remote access code at the base unit.

To download a manual, enter the model number into the search box at
http://www.vtechphones.com/vtechphones/index.cfm/support/general/manuals/

I need access code to get to voice mail on answering machine - I have at&t dect 6.0 model SL82318

If you need the remote access code for the answering system, then the original (default) access code is given in the manual on page 50 (page 53 of the PDF) and on 55 (page 58 of the PDF). See the manual online at https://att.vtp-media.com/ecp/documents/product_Product/364/UserManual/5977/SL82118_manual_i10.pdf . Unfortunately, if the remote access code has been changed, the default code will not work. As far as I know there is no way to reset the SL82318 remote access code to the factory default remotely. See page 50 of the manual to reset the phone's access code when you are using the handset. When you use the handset and start to change the code, the current remote access code will be announced first.

Any voice mail system would be accessed using the phone number and codes from your telephone service provider. This information will not correspond to the answering system of the SL82318.

I hope this helps.

Can you turn off the FPA lock without an original remote? If so, how?

If you remember your pass word then you can use any remote that operates the TV to reset the menu selection. However if you don't remember the password, then sorry, the original remote must be used.
Below is the procedure to set up the menu for front panel lock, unlock and the password reset.

Front Panel

Selecting this option lets you lock (disable) or unlock (enable) the TV's front

panel buttons. The remote still tunes to any channel so remember to remove

access to any remote that can operate the television.

1. Choose Parental Control from the Main Menue and press the OK button.

2. Enter your passworcd.

3. Press the down arrow to highlight Front Panel.

4. Press the right or left arrow button to choose unlock (_) or lock (_).

I don't remember my password and I want to unlock the TV

If you forget your password, you must reset it. Make sure the TV is of. Press VOL- (down) on the TV's front panel and then

CLEAR on the remote for approxhnately 5 seconds. The TV turns on. Enter a new password next time you access
the PARENATAL CONTROL menu or the TIME_menu.

Access code forgotten need to unblock and restore channels

With the remote you can enter a code twice to reset (see pg. 15 of the manual below). It's possible that you can program a universal remote to use the buttons needed to reprogram.

Remote access

Call into your unit, press the * key twice, enter your pin and listen to the menu options. If you need the manual, you can go to www.cordlessrepair.com for a free download. Look on the left hand side for user guides and manual link, that will take you to a list of manuals for your model. In the meantime, if you forgot your pin you will need to reset the pin and choose a new one since remote admin will not work with the default pin of 0000. If you need to reset your pin, on your base push Menu, scroll to System Settings, then dial * 6 5 #, that will reset your pin. Then go back into system settings and change the default pin of 0000 to a four digit code you can remember. Once that is done you can call into your machine remotely, and when you hear your greeting playing dial * twice, enter your pin and your in.
