Any tricks to know on how to reinstall brake pads on my ram
Also be sure to either have your rotors turned by a professional or buy new rotors. They wear grooves and warp over time and if not machined back into a smooth flat surface it will cause a shaking and uneaven braking problems and will greatly increase the wear on your new pads. New rotors are not that much but getting them turned at a parts store usually costs around $5-10 each. Also not turning the rotors may viod any warranty you have on the new pads.
Get a c-clamp and take one of the old pads and place on the caliper piston. screw the clamp till the piston is fully seated. make sure to apply pressure evenly to not damage the seal.
do one side at a time or you may cause the other sides piston to pop out of the caliper. if both sides are already disassembled, you can take the old pads and place them in the other caliper, so the piston movement is limited.
after the piston is seated, put the new pads into the brace, it should be fairly obvious where they go. put the caliper on the bracket and install and tighten the bolts.
I would suggest buying a repair manual from an auto store, especially if you have never done a brake job before.
hope this helped.
